Engine tune up

I recommend you purchase the service manual for the particular make and model of the bike you are going to tune up the engine for. The service manual will list every tool you will need, and it will give you step by step instructions on how to do any job needed to be done, plus pictures to help even further. Good luck!

I have a YZ 450f 2004 when I bought it I think the bike was tuned with a Racing aftermarket exhaust but when I bought the bike it had a stock exhaust. Now it flutters and surges at Top end how do I fix...

Buy a manual and reset the engine to manufacturer spec. All the info you need to do this is in the manual, They also contain all the info you need to service and diagnose any faults. It will cost about 20GBP but will save you hundreds in labour costs and incorrect assembly causing multiple replacements. It will also give you all the correct parts, pressures and torque settings to keep you bike running properly.

Honda 750 ACE Sevice Manual

i'd go with a factory service manual (in paper form, not on CD or DVD). Helm should make one for your bike or range of bikes. check here:

http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_select_oem.asp?Style=helm&mscsid=VRPHRCTCLS5W8PXV2EQFTDBF653J4V26

and reason i say paper copy cause there is nothing like flipping pages in a manual with your finger in the garage while working on your bike. try that with a PC and all you get is a greasy keyboard.

Unsure about gas setup

It has auto lube, the oil bottle is under the seat. Use any full synthetic 2stroke oil. Some bikes may have been modified to run on premix and this would be worth getting checked out by a bike shop. If its been sitting for a while its a good idea to put a tank full of 40/1 premix through it anyway.   Look after your bike, they are becoming very rare and many engine parts are no longer available. The NS was one of Honda's premium products, hence the "R". It had hand matched engine parts and was very expensive to produce.  There were only 35 new red/white bikes imported  into NZ in 1986, removed from the Japanese market  to make way for the NSR. All other NS's imported, blue/white, were second hand imports.   I have had mine from new and it was the first sold in NZ, prepaid before it landed. I have a factory Honda manual for the NS250R. I'm happy to help you with tech info you need. Just post your Q.
