It's possible that the 'unloader' in the pump is plugged. A local small engine repair shop can replace it (generally under 50 bucks). Of coarse you have the hose hooked up to it and the water on.

over time motors get noiseier by wear that occurs in shaft sleeve bearings , this wear is accelerated by water/rust that might get inside , also if pump is new not running a Level base will wear out pump/motor early as well

Good Day, Your washing machine is fully automatic? the washing cycle is normal? if yes do the same maybe it will help you. for the fully automatic washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, how? remove the cup of your drain pump like a ordinary cup, screw it clock wise or counter clock wise. Remove drain pump filter and clean it, some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item that coz of clog up. if your washing machine dont have drain pump ,but fully automatic check the drain motor if running or not? how? open the back cover for top loader washing machine only, select spin cycle and press start to see the drain motor running? the drain motor is like a small box with small wire to pull the lever of the drain to remove water inside, if the motor running or pull the lever of the water pipe but water still inside the washing machine, remove the drain cup or cover and clean it or check if have coin or cloth inside that coz of clog or water stuck, if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle.
Check to make sure that the pot lid o-ring is in place.
Verify that your plumbing is sound and has no suction leak.
Check water level in pool.
Make sure the voltage is correct. Many pumps come pre-wired for 220v. If you have 110v supplying the motor it will run at half speed. There is a diagram on the side of the motor showing how to convert to 110V. Make sure that your supply is 110v before converting the motor. If you switch the motor to run on 110v and hook it up to 220v it will ruin the motor instantly.
what happens is the pump gets staved for water and this damages the shaft seal, water slowly over time leaks into the motor and pollutes the grease int the bearing and causes it to fail. it's fairly easy fix, just have the motor rebuilt by your local pool pump motor repair guy for about 75.00 and your back up and running. beats paying 200.00 or more for a new motor. the sta rite is the top of the line pump, i have had them in my shop over 40 years old ! ask your motor repair guy how to get the most life out of your pump. knowledge is king .. remember to prime the pump after any pump repair !! .. jay longwood florida

Hi, water pump doesn't require load to run, check motor (coi)l with ohm meter (multi-tester), check for continuity, good job, removing pump and cleaning it, it's a commom problem with washing machine. it's possible your pump motor burnt out, two things you can do, to check pump, (1) two wires that you remove from pump motor, put volt meter,put power to machine, be careful, check for correct voltage, if voltage is present, and pump didn't work, then water pump motor, burnt out (2) remove water pump, make extension cord, plug directly to receptacle, if it's good, it will run, if it didn't run, replace it, good luck
