My bike stopped running one day. I replaced the stator, reg./rec., magnectic switch with 30amp fuse, checked all fuses and replaced the battery. Upon connecting the battery with the ignition switch in the off position (the negative first and positive second) all the lights came on except for the headlight but the switch was just in the off position. I then turned the ignition switch with the key to the on position and upon doing so the main 30amp fuse blew immediately. What should I do to get this bike started from this point?
SOURCE: With Key switch in on position I have no power to ignition
Check for any shorts other than that it should be fine cant think of any thing else
SOURCE: Bike starts, fuse blows
Remove the head light bulb, replace the fuse and thn start...see if the fuse will blow.
Check the head light wiring for short-circuit.
Hope thishelps!

You either have a broken/disconnected wire or you have a bad starter button. The starter button is a two position switch. Push it in half way and the headlight turns off. Push it in all the way and the solenoid engages the starter. The button is either dirty or broken.

Check the main fuse.It is a flat fuse (30a) and plugs into the top of the starter solenoid. There should be a spare fuse on the rubber solenoid mount. Remove the fuse out. Then wait for 5 minutes and then reinsert the fuse back. Its on the start relay near battery on red cable, two screws hold it in.The fuse box should be located under the seat by the battery. The fuse IS required in order to start it, because the current that runs to the starter button and then to the solenoid coil DOES run through the fuse. So if the fuse is dead, your starter will be dead. ------------So check the fuse if its bad, blown, shorted then replace the fuse. But if the fuse is fine then remove it for 5 minutes then reinsert it.----------

Have you checked the cutout on the starter switch? This start switch sticks occasionally and you have to joggle it a few times to make it work.----- You front head light gets it power from the starter switch assembly so that it can kill the head light while the engine is trying to start.---------- 3 things to check. The starter switches on
Honda brands in particular are known to fail from owners hooking up additional
accessories and wiring them into the headlight circuit so they only operate when the headlight
is on. The
starter button is part of the headlight circuit and passes current to the
headlight when the button is not depressed. When depressed, the headlight goes
out and the voltage is directed to a starter relay.

The Bulb.
The Turn/signal/dimmer/horn switch .
the start switch.
And of course the wiring.
These are all thats involved in the headlight circuit.------------
Additional loads on the headlight circuit cause excessive current
through the starter button contacts which causes heat build-up that melts the
plastic holding these contacts in place. Eventually the switch gets shorted.By pass the switch and check. This will help. The best option is to replace the start switch.-------
