Try this ... run a hotter plug one or two ranges higher than called for by the manufacturer. Best place to get advice on this is from the friendly guy or gal at your Yamaha Parts counter. You are using the proper mix, correct?????

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2012

Yes,I am running it on Motul 710 and I mix it 32:1 (recommended by Yamaha) and I am using NGK spark plug,model:B8ES

I dont have heat range information available to me so I cannot say get a such and such number. To follow my suggestion, you will have to speak to a knowleddgable parts person. Good luck.

SOURCE: new spark plugs last 10-15 minutes of riding

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the only factor to be checked that could foul a sparkplug for your bike would be the 2T oil injector/pump. There is too much 2T oil going to the combustion chamber. Either the injector would require restricting or for some reason, there is also 2T oil in the fuel tank (pre-mix).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

SOURCE: change spark plugs YAMAHA TDM 850

you get a sparkplug spanner which is capable of holding the plug in a small rubber ring inside the socket itself. there are lots of different sizes so ensure it is the correct one for the plugs, best way to do this is to buy new plugs via make and madel of bike, then ask for plug spanner to fit onto them ensuring it will also fit into the cylinder head, making sure that vwhen you reinsert them you dont cross the thread as this will need a full rebuild of the top of your ebngine. good luck.

SOURCE: vaccum line routing on the carburetors of a 1985 yamaha xj700

There's only two , on the Ca. model , sitting on the bike second cylinder from left, the synching port goes to the petcock -on the carb joint nearest the block- It would be the only boot without a black cap n a spring clamp .And (it'll be a long hose) goes to the emissions can behind the air box on the right from the carb itself.(it has a plastic cover over it) Anything behind the carbs (between 1n2 then 3n4 ) is over flow tubes to the bottom of the frame.

SOURCE: NO SPARK,110CC, 4 STROKE,NEW STATOR,CDI,AND RECTIFIER

Hey whats up? Try back probing your wires going to the CDI unit with a volt meter or continuity tester to make sure you do have any broken wires. Then check the stater make it is good. If sure how to check the starter take it a bike repair shop they should check it for free.. If that does work let me know and I will look further into it for you. Good Luck.

SOURCE: 1995 Yamaha Virago 250 needs ignitor unit

Motorcycle dealers do not stock parts for bikes more than 10 years old. "Parts Dealers" buy the old parts from the motorcycle dealers and manufacturers and make them available online. Babbitt's is a very good source and can ship the part(s) to you. Babbitt's has an ignitor in stock.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Take out your spark plug, but plug it into the plug-wire. Let the bottom of it dangle against the head and try to kick it. If no spark, problem with that, if it sparks, you may have a cracked head or piston/rings problems. This will at least rule one thing out.
