Pressure washer stalls and dies
Joe, sounds like you have a problem with the unloader valve, loosen off on the pressure knob and see if that helps, you can try fixing or just replace valve as most people do. See the
attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

SOURCE: Water flows thru the pressure washer pump and out
Hi,
Let the water run for a longer time. "Walk" the hoses, from the faucet to the pump and then to the nozzle, holding the hoses up to displace any trapped air in the lines through the pump and out the nozzle. What it sounds like is that air is reaching the pump. When it does, it cavitates, and no water can be pumped. Tighten all of your hose fittings securely. Try holding the trigger down while starting the washer. It may be easier with another person helping.

This is the typical problem when the water admitance valve sticks. This valve admits more water to the pump when the pressure drops when wand is triggered. When pressure increases, water is blocked. This is the way they regulate the pressure. The valve is in a bore, usually crossways to the axis of the shaft of the pump. Disassemble the valve noting how the parts go in. Clean the bore with crocus cloth on a dowel rod. Replace all the O rings on the valve spool. Lightly lube the spool with plumber's grease and reassemble.... Good as new! You can often buy a kit of O rings for the valve. They must be EXACT right size. This is normally a one-half hour job.
