All Yamaha motorcycles made after 1982 have 17 digit VIN. Need the 17 digit number off the frame, usually up by the neck, or on one of the down tubes (that run forward of the engine).

check the air filter is not obstructed or dirty. if thats ok then it is more than likely the carbs that need attention/resetting/cleaning out

Clean the carb.

probly firing on one cylinder-pull out the plug it shud be tan or brown-may need new plug wire they wear inside--make sure wire connections are tite and not corroded

There is a round cover on the right side of the motor that is held on by three screws. Under neath that cover is the oil filter for the 1989 virago 250.
