94 gs500e suzuki starts and

The fuel petcock may be the problem. It works by opening a valve to let gas reach the carbs. It does this using a vacuum diaphragm drawing vacuum from the carbs. A gs500 will not work very well without an airfilter either. The carbs rely on proper vacuum to operate and a poor or no air filter will make a gs500 run very bad. Gs500s are air cooled also. If none of this solves the problem do a major tune up. Still nothing then take it to a mechanic. Taking shots in the dark gets expensive.

My bike has been sitting

Electrical won't be your biggest problem. Pull the carbs off and start crying now. 5 years of sitting killed them dead. Carb rebuilding or replacement, gas tank sealing, new battery, tank lock repair, oil change, spark plugs, rotted tires replacement (yes they are) and the electric issues will be or exceed your sanity level and value of bike. Sell bike now get a newer one that runs. You'll thank me later.

Bike was working sound, parked it up now no electrics working

Hi and welcome to the site,

Check / replace the 20A main fuse. It would be inside the starter relay. To locate the starter relay, follow the red cable from the battery's + terminal.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Could be the coils or CDI. Also if it is not charging the battery enough the CDI does not have enough juice to keep it running.

How many vacuum hoses are there

A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library reference section...646 stacks should have what you need.

When starting its just clicking and the starter

Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. The starter cables get warm due to excessive cranking, or high amperage. The starter or solenoid need to be repaired or replaced.

My Suzuki GS 500E has low compression

Low compression is typically a sign of worn piston rings. The fix is very expensive - overhaul of the engine. You may find it is more economical to replace your motorcycle. Before you go over the edge, I suggest you have your engine looked at by a professional, who can ascertain if in fact your compression is low and will have a prety good guess at the cause and the repairs required. You can probably get some more miles from your motorcycle by using heavier grade oil ... if it is worn rings, it will ONLY get worse, it will not improve.

W reg GS500E. Having taken

An slightly clogged air filter will make the air fuel mixture slightly richer, giving you more torque from the engine so the engine will feel meatier at low revs.
Readjust the carbs by slightly raising the level in the bowl, it will have the same effect.

Just bought a 89 suzuki

Are you sure that the key is in the off position. Many motorcycles have a "PARK" position that allows you to park the bike, pull the key, and leave the tail light on. Try turning the key to different positions until every thing is off. If you can remove the key now you have found the "OFF" position.

Suzuki gs500e all electrics work

Electrical issues are difficult to fix in general. I have a Suzuki GSX-F Katana which has similar electrical mapping. When I was fixing my brake lights, I found the connection underneath the rear faring behind the seat. You'll need to make sure those wires are there, undamaged, and connected. Otherwise locate the fuse box and make sure the fuse for the rear brakes is still good. If you like my solution please feel free to give me a thumbs up!

Got gs 550 ez rectifier

The rectifiers will get hot as they rectify the AC current into DC current to charge the battery, similar to any battery charger, They often have cooling fins to help cool them, and can sometimes get hot enough to burn your hand,
If they get to hot it is because they are beginning to self destruct, and can melt all the resin out of them, which is obviously time to buy a new one.
Put a multi meter across the battery terminals, should show 12v aprox-engine stopped, 14v aprox- engine running, this will show its working.
