Have a 2006 ktm 250

Your clutch basket is the link between the engine and transmission. Your kick starter rotates the clutch basket gear, which turns another gear at the engine crank. Remove either the basket or gear at the crank and see if the engine, and the transmission both turn. Sounds like the engine is stuck for some reason. At least you can cut the issue in half.

My son 06 250 sxf

If the bike has been seized up it's important to check out the piston and cylinder head. It's a good learning experience and not that hard a project. Remove the seat, tank, pipe and maybe the carburetor and you should be able to get at the head bolts. Pull the head and inspect the top of the piston and ring area. Rings usually get stuck to the piston so there is not any compression. Pull the jug and more than likely there will be alloy from the piston transfered to the cylinder heard.
Take it to a bike shop or automotive machine shop that can hone it to first over. Purchase new 1st over-sized piston and matching rings. Re-assembly and replace all gaskets.
Thanks for contacting FixYa,

Hello,

Check your spark plugs and make sure that they are not fouled, wrong gap (too wide), bad, poor condition and check the spark plug caps to make sure they are still tight. Also, do not give it throttle when starting, you can flood the engine. You can throttle it 3 or 4 times before trying to start it and this may help. You might try different choke positions too.

Hope this helps. If you find this information useful, please vote on this post. Thank you.

All stock , very bad

The motorcycle was most likely set up at sea level or 400 feet. You have near perfect temperature and not to bad for humidity but the air is thin or thinner then what the motorcycle needs. I did a Google search but was unable to come up with an exploded view of the KTM carburetor. If the bog is that sever off idle you might want to drop a couple of high speed jet sizes. Buy a few sizes run the engine for a little bit and then pull the plug it should be running a light tan to coffee color if it's white then it's way lean and if it's black it's to rich. Right now I'd bet it'll look wet

Hi guys do you when changing the oil filter tip

not usually, the oil pump picks up and gets to pressure pretty quickly. you can do that but some oil will drain away before you get the filter cover back on. at least when the bike is on its side you dont make a mess removing the old filter

Is this a 4 or 2-stroke?
4-stroke = bad valve seals of piston rings
2-stroke = oil/gas ratio too 'oily' OR air filter clogged.
