Timing chain
Usually a chain doesn't just break. Some other event happened causing the chain to snap. If it's just spinning over and not starting I would do a compression check. I'd be willing to bet that there is low or no compression. Probably a bent valve. Not enough to make it noisy but enough to not have any compression. Once a chain breaks it would be in your best interest to have the whole motor checked out. if you just try to put a band-aid on it you will probably be spending more in the long run due to unforseen issues that haven't been explored. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

I have one front shock
Hi, You will have to disassemble your leaking shock and replace the oil seals. Be carefull when taking it a part the springs will snap out, and you have to compress them to get it together. Good luck.

1996 KAWASAKI BAYOU 400 ATV WILL NOT START, LOSS OF SPARK.
Start with the basics. Do you have spark? If no, check to see that the coil has power (unless it's CDI or EFI, if it's that, check that the unit has power).
I'm sorry to say that this sounds like a failing EFI unit or crankshaft position sensor - but it could indeed be a bad contact. The bright side here is that it's failed 100% of the time so it'll be easier finding faults..
Oh if you have points ignition (not likely on a '96) check to see if the points have closed up.
What should the valve clearence be on a 2003
Clearance should be 0.10mm-0.20mm (0.10mm-0.15mm for hot cams)
same as the drz, intervals are supposed to be 14,000 miles but I used to do mine at less than 10,000
hope this helps!
Cam chain rattle
have a real mechanic check the timing chain guides, you may even need a new one, sometimes they stretch.
Engine filling up with gas
there is no way for fuel to get passed the rings right? So if you filled the head with fuel, it would just work its way down the exhaust pipe and out the back, just like its doing. The only way of getting fuel into the sump is; if you have seriously bad rings (it would be burning oil) OR if its getting through the breather system. I don't even think if the injectors were on full-time, it still wouldn't get into the sump... very strange.
Are you sure its not coolant? A serious coolant leak can be completely unnoticeable from the outside, but catastrophic to the inside.

Sounds like the coil has broken down. Test input with a circuit tester set to Ohms/Resistance.
Input should be very low reading
Output should be high Meg Ohms
If you get 0 Ohms or infinite Ohms or high input low output your coil is goosed.
Definitely sounds like an electrical fault, also check H/T leads to plugs from Coil.
I have just purchased a
You bought a 2004 kawasaki klx 400 and now have an issue with soot in the plugs? I would see what the alcohol content is in the gasoline that you are using. There might be an issue with the float sinking in the card. IF this is a dirt bike there is a special addition to the carb for faster starts if the bike gets dumped. It is a pretty complex fuel system for a bike.
Kawaskia atv. 400.bayou engine woodruff
I don't know the year of your ATV but you probably have electronic ignition. I assume the cam chain has not been disturbed. Based on that, just install a new woodruff key and go riding. The timing is pre set. Please rate my answer. Thanks.
