1989 kawasaki GTR 1000 Questions & Answers
Why is Fixya no bloody good at answering questions when you advertise you can answer questions
Sorry. I\'m from Europe, know things about electronics and computers but I don\'t drive a Kawasaki GTR 1000. Lots of questions about electronics, camera\'s, computers phones and operating systems I try to answer. For the more than 2000 answers I gave I got lots and lots of thanks, but I never got one penny. All the people who try to answer questions, do this for free. They at least have the standard they don\'t try to sell crap or don\'t answer things they don\'t have any idea from.If none of all the volunteers has (or has had) a Kawasaki GTR 1000 it is not likely anyone can answer this question. I do have some manuals, yes even service manuals of motor bikes, but not one from Kawasaki, so I even can\'t look up what I could answer to your question.I think one call to a place where they sell Kawasaki cam tell you what oil you need. They perhaps even have it in stock. But not knowing any motor home close to me, I do not make such a call.I hope you understand all the volunteers here do their best, but can\'t answer all questions. I do have to admit your questions are very clear and better to understand than lots of other questions, but we (till now) don\'t have an answer.Again Sorry.
My 1994 kawasaki 750 ss
Is it bogging down, or just stops revving at the point...first check the throttle cable, twist it wide open and make sure it's opening all the way...after awhile they tend to stretch and that won't allow you full power....i hope this helps.
GEARBOX
you could try and adjust your shift lever. it sounds like you have a bent/worn out shifter fork. changing a shifter fork in the transmision is a lot of work.you have to remove the engine from the frame and split the cases.Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear but this should be done at a bike shop.
I have a 1989 kawasaki js 550 jet ski. The engine
Check the ignition coils to begin with and basically follow the wiring back to the stator making sure you have proper voltage at each component, also check to make sure everything is grounded properly, it is very common for the grounds to be corroded on marine equipment. I will have to check but I am sure I have a dealer service/ troubleshooting manual for kawasaki skis, so if you have any other questions about yours let me know.
My cooling fan will not turn on please help,
First take a short jumper wire, across both wires going to the temp switch on the radiator, basically connect the two wires together. If it comes on, then you have a bad temp switch.
Just purchased a gtr 1 replaced the battery all
Try to start it at the soleniod switch by bridging the two points there ( i.e.one wire frm the battery and one tht goes to the starter motor right there on the solenoid).
If the starter still doesnt turn, thn you will have to remove it and overhaul.
Not bad to check the starter button too.
Hope this helps!
At 1/4 throttle does not
Has the bike been sitting for anytime ? Is it 'old' petrol ? Petrol goes off unless a stabaliser is used, takes on a jelly appearance and a varnish smell. 1/4 throttle seetings are controlled by air/primary jets and any long lay up of the bike may cause those jets to block up. Try draining the carbs, reseal them and once you disconnect from the petrol tank fill the carbs with a quality carb cleaner and leave overnight (or longer). Drain carbs and reattach petrol line.
Headlight on Kawasaki GTR 1000 stoped working
If it's not the bulb, then it will either be the switch gear or the relay. Try changing the main light relay first. If that doesn't help, you'll have to trace the power coming from the switchgear and find where the fault is. Might mean cleaning the terminals..
My GTR100 was running yesterday,
Sounds like either a flat battery ( check electrolyte levels and re-charge ) or a jammed starting motor.
If it is the starting motor then raise the rear wheel, put bike into first gear and with the ignition OFF try to rotate the wheel back or forwards. You can also do this with both wheels on the ground and rock the bike back and forwards , in first gear with the ignition OFF.
In future try to start the bike with the lights OFF as this reduces the power load on the battery.
Allways make sure the ignition is OFF when trying to free a jammed starter as there will be the chance of the bike starting and it will run away from you.
Good luck. jamesey555
Carburettor burbling. If the air
Usually the air/fuel mixture screws have a brass cap on them! The only way to get to them effectively is to remove the bank of 4 carburators and drill out the brass cap and remove with a self-tapping screw.
If you have an owners manual or a service manual it will show you where they are located. What make and model and year is the bike we are talking about?
- The closest i can get you to the brass caps is to tell you they are on the bottom of the carburators near the float bowls. You will see a small stem sticking up that is cast aluminum and it is there that you want to drill a hole. Use a 1/8" drill bit or a 3/16" bit to drill a small hole in the caps. NOTE: THE AIR/FUEL mixture screws are right underneath the brass cap, so drill slowly as to not damage the flat blade screw under the cap!!
- Then once you have all the holes drilled, take the small self tapping screw and screw it in slightly so as to grab ahold of the brass cap. Then once you have all the brass caps removed, adjust the idle screws out 2 1/2 turns out.
- Next, i recommend buying a jet kit and installing it in the carbs as this will make the bike run better. (Your choice at this point). Around $120.00 for jet kit and $50.00 for air filter.
- Also, if you order a jet kit, it will have pictures and directions on how to find the pilot / (Air/Fuel mixture screws).
- Also when reinstalling carbs, spray WD-40 on intake boots and carbs to help them slip into place easier...
- Next step is to tighten all the loose bolts on the boots for airbox and the intake boots.
- I guess the easiest thing i can tell you to do is join a forum for your peticular motorcycle and they will have directions on what to do exactly step by step.
- Good luck and let me know if i can help u further...HDTV GURU JAY
