Harley security system doesn't respond to fob
If the security system on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle is not responding to the key fob, there could be a few potential causes for this issue:
- Weak Battery: Check the battery in your key fob. If the battery is weak or depleted, it may not transmit a strong enough signal to communicate with the security system. Replace the battery with a fresh one and try again.
- Fob Synchronization: In some cases, the key fob may become unsynchronized with the security system. To resynchronize the fob, you can try the following steps:
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or IGN position.
- Press and hold the security system disarm button on the left handlebar control until the turn signals flash three times.
- Release the disarm button.
- Press any button on the key fob within 10 seconds.
- The turn signals should flash once to confirm synchronization.
- Fob Battery Contacts: Ensure that the battery contacts inside the key fob are clean and making good contact with the battery. If there is any corrosion or dirt on the contacts, gently clean them with a soft cloth or alcohol wipe.
- Fob Malfunction or Damage: If the key fob itself is damaged or malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced. Contact a Harley-Davidson dealership or authorized service center to obtain a new key fob and have it programmed to your motorcycle's security system.
- Security System Malfunction: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a malfunction with the security system itself. In this case, it is recommended to contact a Harley-Davidson dealership or authorized service center for further diagnosis and repair.
It's important to note that the exact steps or procedures may vary depending on the model and year of your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Consult your motorcycle's owner's manual or contact a Harley-Davidson dealership for more accurate and detailed instructions tailored to your specific model.
