dean ,carb cleaner can be used to clean the carb parts on a re build and thats all .if the bike sat over winter (with fuel in the tank ?) how does it smell ? if its bad it will smell like turpentine .and needs to be changed ,theirs a lot of questions here . was the batt in good shape from the winter ,(good charge 12.6 ?) was your choke on when you dumped the cleaner in tryin to start ?

This sounds stupid I know... but change out the spark plugs and stay with the standard plug, no platnium or irradium plugs.

You have a broken wire somewhere in the TSM/TSSM circuit. This is the circuit that handles your security system and turn signals.Where the break is located will be the hard part. Usually these break under the gas tank or near the steering head. We had one in the shop today that had a break in both places. The vibration of the bike and bumps on the road cause the break to come apart and a code, which causes the security lite to go on. When you shut the bike off, the vibration stops and the wire makes contact with itself again, completing the circuit.

Well overheating is the common issue when stop and go traffic. Stop by a Coffee parking drink a beer and wait until the engine cools.This will solve your blem I think.

Tools needed to replace a starter:

1. Sockets and wrenches.
2. Screwdriver.
3. Pliers.
4. Battery terminal puller.
5. Drive-on ramps, jack or jackstands.

Push a bolt or plug into the open end of the pipes and clamp with a hose clip. Fill the tank and see where the fuel is coming from? Sounds like it is operating as it should now. Maybe it was a software update. Why would you want to risk starting it in gear?
