Change fork seals Kawasaki GPZ 400
If you are not VERY mechanically inclined...and have the special tools required... .please take this to a professional!! it will be less expensive in the long run.!!
It takes some special tools that only dealers have.
I lost my key to
Before you attempt to take out the ignition, call a dealer and ask him if they can get you a key for your bike by using the VIN as reference. Harley and some metrics can do it this way.
Vacuum
download a manual using utorrent. Vacuum pipe from carb to front or underside of fuel valve, fuel rail connects to back side of fuel valve.
Kawasaki how to install
Work like this should start with spending a couple bucks and buying a service manual. Amazon or a bookstore has them reasonable, and will lay out how to disassemble, inspect and most important ,put back together your drive shaft.
Without one, it is pretty straight forward, if you're referring to the back seal on the wheel, take stuff off, change seal, put stuff back on, but why the headache when someone already wrote it all down for you? Best $$ you'll ever spend.
How to replace oil pump
oil pump is in bottom of engine so engine out , unless you have enough space and a plate that bolts on under side of engine to gain access to it ! ?? have a look !
No fire to the motor
check coil or wire from coil. could be blown fuse or bad brain...aka CDI in which case you could open it after locating it and possibly discover a bloated capacitor which you can snip off and solder in a new one for 2 bucks. at a radio shack or electronics parts store
Magnets broke on flywheel
it needs to be replaced you cannot fix that.. you may even be able to find a used one at a local junk yard seeing how they may be a little expensive.. let me know how you make out.. and also make sure you clean it well
Motorbike wont move
sidestand lockout switch is sticking...bike thinks that you're trying to ride away with the stand down so it kills the sparks.
Overheating
I've never been a big fan of automotive oil in a bike. That being said, maybe the Castrol can be used in bikes too I don't know. Anyhow, hopefully someone will be along that can better answer that part of your question. There have been many discussions pertaining to what oil to use. Drop a PM to OilDoc. He can probably answer that question very quickly for you. If this was a car, I'd say that the thermostat was stuck. Maybe start there.
Ex 5oo is killng batterys?
on my bike it is said to be the rectifier, no fixing it just toss and get a new rectifier. its not converting/reducing AC voltage as it should, so higher than spec surplus elec current gets dumped back into the battery, cooking it, also first check your battery ground it may be the problem
I have a 1986 zx 600 ninja and its hard to start
Your problem is that your valves are not properly adjusted; had the same problem on my 1985 Ninja 600 - the colder the ambient temperature got the harder it was to start. After a valve adjustment it fired right up even in freezing temperatures very reliably.
GPZ500 1990 STARTING ISSUES
If it died while riding and would not start even with a boost chances are the charging system is not working or the battery is not accepting the charge.
Make sure battery is full of water(distilled and at the upper line in each cell)and charge the battery. Start the bike and use a multi meter and ckeck the voltage at the batery terminalls(red+) (black -) and if the charging system is working you should have between 12.5 and 15 volts. If it is at 12volts or under than you need to look at your charging system. If te system chack out ok @12-15 volts than I would invest in a new battery. I recomend a yuasa battery.
I own the same bike as you and never had an issue with the yuasa ( i won't run anything else)
Hope this helps
Greg
