My friend has a 2001 Volvo C70 that drains the battery constantly. She has replaced 2 batteries and is on her second alternator. It runs when boosted but turn it off and its dead. What can the problem be? I know its an open circut but no lights are on in the interior. None! I've read post about disconnecting all the bulbs and replacing them one at a time on a new battery (if it holds), but to be honest I don't have that kind of time. Drained batteries seem to be a common problem with this make and model.

The unfortunate thing is diagnostics DOES TAKE TIME. You need to set aside the time to be accurate.

Something for sure is draining the battery and methodical diagnosis is the only way to get it figured out. IF there were an open in the alternator to battery circuit, the new alternator would be damaged.

Pull the interior light and radio fuses, disconnect the negative battery and put a test light or volt meter in series with the cable and battery terminal. I expect the light will be lit or the voltage to be above .2 volts draw.... Disconnect the battery, remove one component, connect the battery test setup, and see if voltage drops or light goes out..... when it does, you have the offending system, so investigate that.

Be sure that you can garantee good ground between battery and everything....especially the engine.

New Battery low voltage issue

If the alternator light is on there is a problem in the charging system. Have a local Autozone or O'reilly auto parts test it when the light is on, do not have the test run unless the light is on. I think you have a defective alternator but the meeting should confirm this.

My battery keeps going down in my volvowhat do i look for?

Get the battery tested, have the voltage checked, electrolytic solution, corrosion on the terminals, if it checks out, you must have a clock running, or tom-tom, something draining the battery. A clock will do it fast, but usually it will be a weak battery. Hope this helps.

1996 volvo 850 powered down, all panel lights came on, car died, generator not charging light had been on for a month (looks like a battery), what could be problem, is it expensive,

when the generator quits the car will run until the battery is drained then it will stop. You need the constant recharging to keep running. Sounds like you will need an alternator. Seek a volvo shop and get estimates.

My battery drains if I leave my 99 Volvo C70 convertible sit for more than a week. This is the second time in 2 years that the new battery won't charge back up. The alternator is putting out between 12.7...

You problem may be the alternator...It may be putting out voltage, but not enough amperage...voltage doesn't charge the battery, the current(ampoerage) does. have the alt checked. then if its good, make sure you have no accessories that are plugged in or left on in the car
