The cooling fans on your car are comanded on by the engine control module which reads engine temperature from the temperature sensor . when comanded on the engine control module sends a signal to the cooling fan relays . which in turn runs the current to the cooling fans . So you might want to check the cooling fan relays and make sure the fues for the cooling fans are good and the relays .if the cooling fan fuses and relays are good it could be a problem with the fan motors or the engine control module not reading the right temperature in that case it could mean you have a problem with the temperature sensor

Your fans could be seized which is not uncommon for gm vehicles.if you start the car and turn the a/c on the fans should work when the compressor kicks on if they don`t then they are probably no good you can tap on the motors with something when they should be running and if they start to work then you need new fan motors, you can power up the fans directly by using jumper wires to each fan motor one power and one ground wire again if they don`t work and you have made good connections then the motors are no good, other things could be a bad fuse, bad relay bad connections.the reason its not overheating when driving is there is enough air flow over the rad to keep the motor cool

I have a 2005 mazda 3 and when i put it in park it overheats on me but put it in drive and its fine

a lot of things could be wrong here there could be a clog some where in the cooling system when you put the transmission in park the idle increases which makes the engine run hotter do you here your electric engine fan come on at all how are your catalytic convertors a bad one will make engine temp go very high see when your driving your wind cooling the motor but when you stop the engine fan should come on to cool down the motor is there plenty of antifreeze in the radiator coolant recovery bottle and the radiator is your exhaust system quiet or are is it making noise a loss of back pressure will cause higher engine temps also you must try to narrow it down and be more precise and the solution will come LATER MAN!

My 2005 equinox cooling fans come on for a few seconds &shut off making engine over heat &OVERHEATING What is the problem?

Should be a relay somewhere in the engine compartment - may be failing. You may be able to switch with another relay to diagnose.
Check your owners manual under fuses and relays.

Overheating when driving

Sounds like the water pump fins aren't doing their job. I suggest changing the water pump. Been there, done that. Bad pump.

I have a 1995 saturn.it only overheats when i drive it.it does fine when it idles.i have changed the water pump thermostat fan motor and radiator cap and flushed the whole system and it still overheats.

If your car is overheating when you drive it,but you have replaced and made sure the radiator fan motor is working and coming on,you have flushed the system and replaced all your cooling components, then you may have a blown head gasket.Check for a milky white look to your oil dipstick. If so,you have a blown head gasket.or you might also have an air pocket in your cooling system that you need to bleed out.Good luck.

My 1998 ford taurus overheats when idling but cools down when you drive what should I do?

Check your your radiator cooling fan should come on at about 220 deg. and off at about 210 deg. at idle with a/c off, if it stats to over heat turn a/c on, fan should come on right away, if it dont check voltage at fan motor, if you do have voltage, you have a bad radiator fan motor, more then likely the reason it don't over heat while driving is air is being push through radiator where it cool's the coolant before it goes back into the engine, at stop's no air running through and never cool's coolant .

Car overheats when idling but goes down when driving

Sounds like your electric fan is not working. No air flow when sitting, the fan is not needed when driving. If you turn on the ac most cars will have the fan come on until ac is turned off. If your fan cames on the you can use this option to cool the car until you can fix the real proplem.
