Hello all. This is my first post so please be gentle with me!
I have had a B200 with CVT since new in 2006, which has about 74K kms on clock. Has been a great car but in the last month or so have had problems with transmission and my mechanic and myself have been trying to work out what the problem is.
Consistently, within the first 10 minutes after start up, the transmission will **** and a warning message saying 'Transmission visit workshop' or similar will come up. The car then goes into 'limp home' mode. It stills drives but seems to stay in the one gear. Has very limited acceleration. Stopping the engine and restarting makes the warning message go away. Hard acceleration will make it go back into limp mode. An engine restart temporarily fixes the problem each time. If I keep driving in 'limp home' mode for about 10 minutes (which is really jerky), it seems to warm up. If I then restart the engine, the problem disappears.
My mechanic seems to think it is a problem with the electronics module - which is horrendously expensive to fix.
I have exactly the same problem. When it's warm, i turn it off & on and it works normal. Can you please let me know how you solved the problem?I have exactly the same problem. When it's warm, i turn it off & on and it works normal. Can you please let me know how you solved the problem?

excellent top condition as new --$4000.00 average $2000
the milage is suspect as an average car does 20,000 klms a year and that would make the reading at well over 200,000klms
patriots have all kinds of cooling problems, make sure that you have enough tranny fluid in it and remember your torque converter uses about 4 quarts, the tranny has a cooler in the radiator, replace the radiator with one that has 2 rows of cooling, your radiator is going to die just like the rest of patriots
- Engine oil change:
Engine oil- fully synthetic. 5W20, SN. Replace oil after every subsequent 5000-8000 Km.
- Replace oil filter after every subsequent 10,000 Km. (Genuine).
- CVT, Transmission oil change. CVT-TC 08886-02105.
Replace CVT oil after every subsequent 100,000 Km.
- Replace Toyota coolant after every 30,000 Km.
your vehicle is not equipped with a cvt transmission, so does not require cvt fluid. adding cvt fluid would cause a catastrophic failure. please reply and explain what problem you are actually experiencing.
