92 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 6cyl. (193,000 mls) I filled up my tank at gas station, drove a half mile then stopped at a red light. All of a sudden I started losing power and felt like it wanted to die.I was barely able to get it of the road. Engine will crank and fire up but will die after a few seconds. If i start it and give it gas and keep revd to 3000 rpm's it sounds ok for 20 seconds then dies. Battery is good, just changed the fuel filter, still no go. I tested the fuel pump visually, it will not pump gas out with ignition on but will when I crank it. I didnt cyphen out the gas when I changed fuel filter and the gas looks and smells fine. Im a cheap bastard and dont want to buy a fuel pump if thats not the problem.Could be 10 different problems. Afraid I have to take to shop for diagnostics check to pinpoint it but asking here first for possible solutions?

Maybe it's the ASD relay? Also (sorry) the PCM! I hope this could help. Take care and best wishes to you.

Check spark to plugs. Possible crankshaft position sensor. Located at rear of engine between engine and trans.

My 99 Jeep Cherokee keeps shuting off when I am taking right turns. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome. I am really stumped.

Cant say if its the fuel pump but how a filter works is when the flow stops the sediment will settle off the filter. If enough sediment is in the filter you will fell power loss after driving for awile. Now if you werent having issues before this doing freeway speeds or gunning it around town I wouldnt suspect a filter from just driving around town. If it were a filter on a vehicle your age it would set a check engine light for running lean,
Now its pretty typical for a fuel pump to stop then work later when it cools off.
If your still experimenting look at the fuel pump realy under the hood in the fuse box and if you have a lookalike like a the horn or ac relay then swith one with the fuel pum relay.

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered
