Where is the fuel filter on a Mazda 6 2006 ? I have terrible idling and hesitation on the car for 3 weeks no one seems to knwo for sure what it is. No service engine light or reading on the computers. Someone feels it is the fuel filter.

My first guess would be a partially blocked fuel filter

A clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump going out. Could be a dirty air filter also. When's the last time you had a tune up?

try changing the fuel filter, especially if it's an older model.

Could be dirty throttle body or needs tune up.fuel filter,air filter.

Check fuel pressure. If good, rebuild carb.

first thing i would do is put the old spark plugs back in and try it [may be faulty new plug] if that doesnt work replace ht leads and all so take distributor cap off and check condition

Hi, you stated that the original fuel pump is still installed. I would replace this pump as soon as possible. this may be the key issue. You can check the voltage on this part by using a voltage meter. you should get 14 volts here. if its less than 14, it will run weak , in return, preventing proper fuel flow. I would also check the injection system to see if its running properly as well.

The spark plug leads in these cars are notoriously bad. I would change them without hesitation just for maintenance if nothing else, but I bet it solves your problem.

Check the air filter hose. My '99 Protege was idling rough and would sometimes shut off. The air filter hose was cracked half way around. I replaced it (easy just loosen two hose clamps and pull out the sensor) and the car is running fine.

change the transmission fluid, replace the oil and oil filter check spark plug cables, check starter coilpak, and make sure there is coolant
