There is a vent on the roof of the chill zone that allows a portion of the a/c to circulate in that compartment, keeping it cool....as long as the a/c is on...and the vent is open :-)
It's okay, I've had my 07 caliber since 07 and just now noticed that myself....hey is your dome light a flashlight?
There is a small plastic cover on the roof of the "chill zone"....if you pull it towards yourself it allows a small amount of a/c to flow into that small compartment inside the glove box......keeping it "chill"......as long as the a/c is on.....oh, and the vent is open :)
It's cool.....I've had my 07 caliber since 07 and just now found that vent myself.
you will need to disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery, remove right front wheel, remove underbody air dam, remove accessory drive splash shield, remove the accessory drive idler pulley. Next loosen the lower mounting bolt, then loosen the a/c compressor and relocate(pull down and to the outboard side of the vehicle to make room for the alternator the come out) next uplug field circuit from alternator and the B+ terminal nut and wire. remove upper mounting bolt on the alternator and lower mounting bolt. relocate the terminal to the other side of the a/c line. Rotate alternator pulley down and slide down and out of vehicle. Yes, its a pain in the ****.
