We cut the white wire on my son's 2005 ION and followed a youtube video. He said to remove the airbag fuse first. After we cut the wire and put the airbag fuse in, now the airbag light is on. I can't get it fixed for beans. So now he has a security light and airbag light on. He has been in several accidents and the airbags never came out anyway so I guess he will have to drive that way. It did start last night no problem in 30 degree temperature!
cold weather seriously weakens the battery. Chemical reactions in the battery simply can't happen with the same efficiency at colder temps. Try charging the battery overnight with a 2amp "trickle charger" before a cold morning start.
the car won`t start in cold weather even when plugged in alternator was changed 4 months ago just changed battery thinking it was the battery but seems like something is draining the battery overnight? Maybe its a bad connection??Plz help!!!
sounds like a plugged fuel filter,,,changed it lately?? what might be occurring is,,after turning the engine over for a few minutes,,it just cant get the fuel,,,then after sitting the fuel slowly goes threw the filter,, and you get enough for the engine to start,,,clean filters are a must,,,give this some thought,,,their about 10 bucks if you change it yourself.
The fix is unbelievably simple and NOT the ignition switch. It is however the pass lock white wire. The wire is located in the steering column. You can find a youtube video on it. You simply remove the airbag fuse (for safety), unscrew two screws under the steering wheel, you will see many wires. Find the wire wire (a guy has a complete instructional video on youtube), crank your Ion, cut the wire while it is cranked, seal the ends and replace everything. The only draw back is the passlock dashboard light will stay on. The passlock system is basically is someone steals your car without a key, it tells the computer to stop giving it gas. I had the same problem and since I cut the white wire it has cranked EVERY time. Good Luck, it will only cost you around 5 bucks...

saturn has a TSB#04-08-45-005D the ignition switches go bad usually when its cold outside and they dont let the car start, common ion issue,,you need a new ignition switch,,not the lock cylinder the switch its a little electric box on the end of the cylinder housing you need to replace that and reprogram the new one to the car, switch is like $40
