About 2 months ago the check engine light came on in my 2006 Ion. I checked at an AutoZone the code and no code came up. The associate told me it may be the gas cap. After removing it and putting it back on the check engine light went off. About 3 days ago the light came on again. I was low on gas...filled up (I even put in a Techron fuel system cleaner, in case) reset the gas cap and the light is still on. I went to AutoZone again and they checked the code and came up with P0304. This can mean a few things. I am not sure what to do at this time. The car has about 56k miles on it, so I'd think it cant be it needs a tune-up. Possible problems listed were Vacuum leak, Injector Fault, High or low fuel pressure, Ignition system fault-spark plug.
My question is, what should i do first?
And, is this in any way a known problem.

Just found these post about recalls; http://www.automobilemag.com/am/2006...n/recalls.html and 2009http://www.mycarstats.com/reports/Saturn/ION/2006/recalls.aspx
Could this be the reason for the code? I'll call Saturn, but they will prob. give me the run around.
I had the SAME problem...do you smell any fuel smells? Is your car getting less MPG and is does it have less excelleration? It is the Fuel Injector(s)...
Most likely...one or more has gone bad, I believe this is yet another common problem with the Saturn ION...hhhhmmmm I wonder why they went out of business...
P0304 is misfire on #4 cylinder try moving your spark plug to another cylinder and see if the code follows it like #2 cylinder would be P0302, You can do the same with plug wires if they reach to a different clyinder.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I do smell fuel and I'm getting less MPG.
Do you have any links to pages which talk about the fuel injectors going bad on Saturn cars?
