Just a few thoughts to check first: P1702 TRS Circuit Intermittent Malfunction, not a very common code , usually comes along with other codes, here are some things to check, battery voltage, needs 12.4 minimum motor off,, 14.5 or so with motor running,, have it load tested Meter test your brake switch, a faulty switch will also push this code up this code is usually associated with a P0340 code, if your car is sluggish and rpm's vary at stops , then check the Cam shaft sensor

SOURCE: problem code P1702 for 08

P1702; TRS (transmission range sensor) circuit malfunction.
Basically the sensor that detects which gear is selected is possibly not working, or the circuit that supplies power to it isn't working, or a possible faulty PCM.

I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT Automatic Not Shifting.

You are going to cost yourself more money by trying to drive it like this.
Go to an Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys autoparts and get a free scan. Ask for the Code numbers. Most lkely they will tell you what you need to fix it.

You are not only not in overdrive, but probably in 3rd gear. You need to be in 4th or 5th before the Overdrive is suppose to work. Overdrive will not work in the lower gears. AT 60mph you should be at half the RPM that you are trying to run at.

Do not exceed 2200 RPM. Have the Brakes checked if the autoparts store can not scan the brake system. The cheaper scanners do not have that function.

If you can not repair it from what the parts store tells you, contact us again with the Code numbers. Some Codes are for professionals, they help with pricing a repair by you so you can ask for a price to install this or that.

Some repairs are owner friendly, bolt-on and finished. Have store wipe memory after all repairs are done.

Hi i have a 2007 dodge caliber with check engine light on- the error code is p008 - can you help me understand the issue?

could that be P0008? I'm not showing the code you've listed, but if you reply to this feed I will help you out If it is the code I listed, then its this , P0008 Engine Position System Performance (Bank 1) This error basically means the engine is out of Sync. The Camshaft and Crankshaft are out of position or at the very least think they are. Engine timing may be out and thus your engine is in danger of complete destruction. At the very least a camshaft sensor maybe down. Take the vehicle to a mechanic so they can check the timing issues

2007 Dodge Caliber check engine light stays on......was very low on oil but replenished more then 50 miles ago. no problem with engine how to turn off?

Most times, once your car posts a trouble code you need a OBD-II code reader to pull the code and reset the check engine light. You can get one pretty cheaply from your neighborhood auto parts store. However, some parts stores have one available that they will let you borrow for a small fee or even for free. It connects to a diagnostic port just under the driver's side dash. Dealers and repair shops will typically charge you $50-75 to read the code and reset the light.
