I am thinking when they replaced your airbag light the other circuit connections could have been impacted. The Rios have issues with solder connections on the circuit board. This is made worse is high humidity areas. Try unplugging the battery and reconnecting after several minutes to see if the hard reset fixes temporarily.

I have the same problem, however there is no cable on my model. There is a small motor inside the cluster which drives the gears for the odometer, the worm gear on mine broke (cracked into pieces, cheap junk). Probably have to go to a junk yard to get the speed/tach cluster.

Under driver and passenger seats are wires that go to seat belt anchors. These are tensioner wires.Unplug the wires from the plug under the seat.clean and replace.Doing this while the ignition is turned off. Then turn ignition back on.In 90% of the time this is your problem.Constant movement of seat causes this or rear passengers kicking plugs off.Good luck phil.

I just fixed that problem. The problem is loose resistors on the instrument cluster's he printed circuit board. It's four bigger resistors parallel to each other. Re solder them and you are set.

Typical code readers (OBDII) won't touch the airbag lights. Neither will disconnecting the battery and waiting. If the airbag light is flashing, there's a code involved. The system may or may not work when needed. If it's on steady, the system is failed and will not deploy when needed. Typically, it's a connector in the various harnesses involved. Unfortunately, the Kia shop manuals just say "replace everything" so they're no help. The dealer has the very expensive code reader to read & reset the airbag light. In other words, $$$.
