Where is the fuel filter on a 2004 Toyota Sienna? Is it external or in the gas tank?

  • jasoncham79 Oct 14, 2019

There is one on the fuel pump in the tank that rarely needs changing unless you have a lot of rust and junk in your tank and are changing the pump but there is also an inline filter that is usually located along the frame rail under the vehicle.

The fuel filter on a 2004 Toyota Sienna is located inside the gas tank and is part of the fuel pump assembly. It is not designed to be replaced separately, and when the fuel pump is replaced, the fuel filter is also replaced as part of the assembly. Therefore, there is no external fuel filter that can be replaced on this model of Toyota Sienna.

SOURCE: Broken spring on the gas fuel tank door on Toyota ''Camry'' 1998

Go to your nearest Toyota dealer. Purchase this part number: 77360-22020; approx 4 dollars.

Open the fuel door. Being careful, remove the leftover plastic that is hooked by the door hinge. Insert the new spring assembly under the slot, and press it in until it clicks into place. Very easy to do.
Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.

SOURCE: Changing fuel filter on 2004 Cadillac SRX

If you go to the auto parts store they should have a fuel line disconnect tool that has a 5/16ths end an a 3/8ths end. The tool is shaped like an X. Before you start you need to pull the fuel pump fuse under the front of the REAR passenger side seat while the car is running and let it stall. it will release the built up pressure. This is important unless you want gas to spray every where. Then take the tool and start with the end of the filter with two lines. Place the appropriate end of the tool over the smallest inlet, push the tool in then pull the line towards the filter and then push the line away and it should disconnect. Do the same with line above. Then you can use the two appropriate size wrenches to disconnect the outlet end. reconnecting the new filter is simple just make sure your quick connect lines click in all the way and you tighten the outlet line well, I think its like 22 or 25 ft/lbs.

SOURCE: the sliding door on my 2004 toyota sienna won't close

Try this.....Find the latch on the door, stick your finger in the hole, lift up and pull the door handle at the same time, the inside latch mechanism should go up, then try the door again. It would be nice if that's all it was huh? Sometimes they stick when they get too cold. If this works for you....spray it with some WD-40 or graphite. Hope this worked for you. Cheaper than the 2000.00 motor!

SOURCE: Is the fuel filter for the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

You may be lucky and the fuel filter is still on the inside frame rail under the drivers door. 2004 was the change off year and 2005 was defiantly the no serviceable fuel filter.
You can go to the dealer with your vin number and they can look up in there system if you have the external fuel filter, or you can just look for it on the inside of your frame rail.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe.

Where is fuel filter

I don't show a fuel filter used on a 2001 model.
Looks like 2000 was the last year for a replacement fuel filter.
The screen in the gas tank is the only filter in the fuel line.

Replace fuel filter

some newer vehicles dont use fuel filters on external fuel lines, they are only serviced with a fuel pump module in the fuel tank. call a parts store and ask for a filter. if its in the tank they can tell you. if its serviceable they will have a listing for it.

Where is my Toyota Highlander 2008 fuel filter located?

This model does not have an external fuel filter, there is a permanent fuel filter inside the gas tank that is not serviceable unless you want to remove the gas tank.

Can I replace a fuel pump in a 2002 toyota sienna? do I need to take it to an expert

Wade, you can do it. just buy a manual for your vehicle. it will give you detailed instructions. Plus you can use it later for other problems that arise. you will have to drop the fuel tank. A novice can do it in about4 or 5 hours on the ground.

2003 Sienna - where is the fuel filter?

Hi,

To my knowledge after 2001/2, Toyota no longer uses an external fuel filter on their Sienna models, all the fuel filters are incorporated with the fuel pump inside the tank. Should your model still have an external fuel filter it would be underneath the air filter assembly. You could verify by following the the fuel line/hose.

Additionally, you may want to have your car's computer codes scanned/read, there may be indicators/errors. Depending on the errors/code displayed, they may be causing your intermittent starting which could be anywhere from the O2 sensors to the two A/F sensors or entirely something else.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
