Check the electrical connection as it may not have made the connection correctly. Check the fuse, if all are ok, you probably have a bad or wrong fuel pump. It starts when the key is turned to the on position.

The fuse box is located low on the left side of the dashboard behind a cover, or at the left side kick panel, behind a cover.

Relay Box -is located under the left side of the dash as well.

2002 sonata won't start - turns over but won't fire.

Did you change the fuel filter at the same time, check the pressure and flow, if ok make sure there is a good spark, and the injectors are pulsing, also check or replace the throttle position switch.

2002 hyundai elantra car is cranking over but won,t start it has gas you can hear the fuel pump come on don,t know what to check next

seems like a fuel pressure issue, try replacing the fuel filter with a new one, and spray some aerostart into the air intake while cranking over.
