SOURCE: Changing inner tie rods on 2005 Chrysler 300c

yes. If the rack is not held ,when you try to turn the rod you could bend the rack. With the pin out it doesn't take much to hold the rack, loosen the end with the rack "turned " so the rack is retracted into the housing, not sticking way out .

SOURCE: my chrysler 300c will not shift from park

With out being able to see it sounds like you have a misadjusted or broken park lock cable. there is a cable that locks shifter in park unless Brake pedal is depressed. So if you are pressing the brake and can not shift into a gear. that would be the first place I would check

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C hemi and the

The malfunction indicator light(mil) can come on, if there is a problem in
1 or more of the vehicle's systems. Such as fuel/electrical or emissions.
To isolate the problem, the car needs to be scanned with an OBD II
(onboard diagnostic)scanner. You can stop by any of the auto parts chain store's(advance/auto zone/napa)and they will scan it for free.
Hope this helps.
