More here, but the TCM is not something you say "I think I'll put a new one in my car". You need an auto electrician or a transmission specialist to connect a scan tool computer and diagnose. The issue is more likely shift solenoids than the TCM.

tip

I get code p0700 after an OBDII scan.

P0700 Transmition Control system is the transmission control module.
The transmission control module is a separate computer module, you need to read codes stored on transmission control module.

If there are no transmission code stored, then there is a bad Transmission Control Module (TCM) ground circuit or a bad TCM. In that case the ground to TCM must be tested, and TCM eventually replaced.

Faults that can cause troubles when shifting from first to second gear are : transmission fluid, speed sensor, TPS, transmission shift solenoid, gear box problem, TCM, neutral switch, torque converter problem.

The best thing to do is scanning TCM codes.

Nissan Sentra 2008. Transmission control module gets very hot

Based on the symptoms you described, it is possible that the problem is related to the transmission control module (TCM) or other components related to the transmission system.
When the TCM gets too hot, it may cause the transmission to malfunction and result in a loss of power and acceleration. This could also cause the engine to stall or refuse to rev.
There are several potential causes for a TCM to overheat, including a faulty cooling system or electrical issue. It is best to have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic who can diagnose the problem and recommend appropriate repairs. They may need to run diagnostic tests or check the electrical connections to identify the root cause of the problem.

Where is the tcm on a 2012 on a Chevy impala

on newer cards the TCM was moved inside the ECU and forms what is called a PCM,
TCM= the transmission brain for all electronic shifted A/T
the shop manual covers all this. buy one? rent it ?
no engine told (USA CAR) and engines are matched up to A/T transmissions by torque, rating;
so no transmission told either. but solved by me (USA only answers me)
here is the choices seen at CHebby OEM.
had 8 different , v6's then all 3.6Liter if still stock is it? not flex?
it was./
6-Speed Automatic Transmission Assembly - GM (19332871) OEM GM 6-Speed Automatic Transmission Assembly For 2012 Chevrolet Impala
so next where is the brain here TCM ( by any name)
zero hits at chevy for TCM) ECM yes, BCM yes.
seen here and CHEVY does not sell he TCM (neat) read on. why.

https://www.gmpartscenter.net/oem-parts/gm-engine-control-module-assembly-12651993?c=bD0xJm49U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHMmYT1jaGV2cm9sZXQmbz1pbXBhbGEmeT0yMDEyJnQ9bHQmZT0zLTZsLXY2LWdhcw%3D%3D
are you getting USA OBD2 scan errors for TCM?

now I read your FSM factory service manual to you.
Transmission - 6T70/6T75 TCm words are there,

In the engine compartment, left front lower, inside the front of the automatic transmission, part of the control solenoid valve assembly
states
Control Solenoid (W/Body and TCM) Valve Assembly
ok super deep in the manual here it is (drum rolllllllllll)_

The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly contains the following components:
  • Transmission control module?(TCM)
  • Clutch pressure control solenoids?(Clutch PC Sol)
  • Shift solenoids?(SS)
  • Line pressure control solenoid?(Line PC Sol)
  • Torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid?(TCC?PC Sol)
  • Transmission fluid temperature sensor?(TFT Sensor)
  • TCM temperature sensor
  • Power-up temperature sensor
  • Transmission fluid pressure switches?(TFP Sw)
SOLVED !!!
These components are not serviced separately.
The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly utilizes a lead-frame system to connect these components electrically to the TCM. No wires are used for these components. The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly bolts directly to the lower and upper valve body assemblies inside the transmission. The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly connects to the engine harness 20-way connector.

end easter egg hunt again.
no problems told at all.
and we all knows A/T box love problems and are mostly very costly cures.
it's in this mess. and not sold as sub parts TCM

tcm-undefined-undefined-0.jpg SOLVED , TCM is inside here, must buy all see there, as 1.

I replaced the TCM in my 2005 Chevy colbolt, light come on but car won't start, turn key and anti theft icon comes on but doesn't stay on

TCM ? transmission control module ? Did you have it programmed ? Reprogram the TCM. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
Transmission Control Module Programming and Setup
The transmission control module (TCM) must be programmed with the proper software/calibrations. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for TCM programming:
• The battery is fully charged.
• The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
• The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure.
Program the TCM using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.
If the TCM fails to program, proceed as follows:
3.1. Ensure that the TCM connection is OK.
3.2. Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version.
3.3. Attempt to program the TCM. If the TCM still cannot be programmed properly, replace the TCM.

TCM or shift solenoid

SCAN IT.
WHAT CODE?
on 96 cars some can only flash codes.
so read the manual FSM>
or login to alldata.com and read how to scan your TCM.
on about 1997 most cars the PCM gets all TCM codes side loaded.
prior to that , its a jumper wire, to the TCM and OD blinks some tranny lamp blinks.

06 mazda 6 battery was crossed polarized, however the TCM fuse blew and we were able to start the car. Now the car shifts hard and will not shift out of third it seems. Any suggestions,? is the TCM fried?

Sounds like you may have fried the tcm I would go to car-parts.com and get a good used one. You could check and see if there is any fuses that you blew out that control the tcm if you have a manual for the car you can look at a wiring diagram and find out what fuses are associated with the tcm if not check them all.
