TOYOTA TAZZ KICK BACK...

Hi, I was driving my Toyota Tazz 1300 to work. When I approached a hill, i dropped to third gear and was driving up. I noticed that car started to kick-back as the speed increased. The car got to about 80 km/n and it just kicked back.

Kick back - the car was struggling to go up the hill as the speed increased. At a single moment, ut felt like the car was going to switch off, but it kinda like jump started, as if when you roll the car to jump start it.

I noticed it again when the car attempted to climb another slight incline. My vehicle has been for its 105 000 service. It had the cam belt replaced.

I am not sure if this could be the cam belt or something else...

I need a solution...

Thanks.

It sounds like it is loosing spark somewhere on the ignition circuit. e.g HT leads, distributor cap, one or more spark plugs faulty. The above usually happens when the engine is taking more load than usual, like going up a hill and the r.p.m at about 1500 - 3000.Try it again in a lower gear 1st or 2nd with the motor r.p.m high, about 5000 revolutions per minute.

Regards
Phillip

Hi friends i have a Toyota tazz sport 2003 model 1300 i just want to know if i can replace it with a cluster that have revs and wich car model cluster will fit on my toyota tazz?

Hey there!
Upgrading your Toyota Tazz 2003 with a cluster that includes a tachometer (rev counter) is a cool idea. It can give you better control and insight into your engine's performance. However, you'll need to be careful when swapping out your cluster.
To get a cluster that fits and works properly, you should try to find one from a similar model or year. In this case, you'd ideally want a cluster from another Toyota Tazz 2003 or a similar model within the same generation.
Swapping clusters from different car models can be tricky because the wiring and compatibility may not match. It's important to make sure that the new cluster's connectors, sensors, and wiring are compatible with your Tazz's existing setup. Otherwise, you might encounter electrical issues or inaccurate readings.
If you're not sure which clusters are compatible, it's a good idea to consult with a mechanic or an automotive specialist. They can provide guidance on finding the right cluster and help you with the installation to ensure everything works seamlessly.
Remember, modifying your car's electrical systems should be done carefully to avoid any potential problems. Good luck with your upgrade, and enjoy having that rev counter on your Toyota Tazz!

Hi, my Toyota Tazz switches off after a certain distance then it completely shuts down. It will only start after kick start or jumper.

For strangeness like that you need an auto-electrician with a pro-grade scan tool computer that can record in real time what happens to all the modules and sensors when it shuts off. Also check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

This is an issue that only you have, which is unusual.

check the transmission oil, for metal bits stuck to the drain plug. If you have some then it will be bearing failure in the gear box.
