What is the clicking noise in my ac when turned on in my 2010 lincoln MKS

Also if you here constant clicking when it's on otherwise it will click when turned on and off by the cycling switch and is normal if your a/c isn't working properly and when you accelerate it stops working no air then there's a leak in the system and the cycling switch/pressure switch shuts off the compressor to avoid damage to it a/c systems are sealed air tight and never need freon unless the system is leaking and must be repaired and evacuated to add new freon

That's your compressor kicking on and off. Maybe low on fluid or going out. Have it checked.

The noise is the clutch disc making contact with the pulley it's worn and possibly is slipping and the rivets that hold it together are rubbing the pulley now it also could be that the pulley bearing is dried out in either case you must replace it ASAP ! Because those 2 things can cause the compressor to lock up snapping the belt while driving or not allowing engine rotation when you try to start the engine $$depends on how and where you get it done at a shop our yourself you need a pair of snap ring pliers long enough to get inside to release the snap ring holding the pulley in place if it's the bearing making the noise if it's just the clutch disc just take off the nut and liquid wrench it until you can lightly pry it back or use a thin jawed puller do not loose the washers that space the disc from the pulley installation is the reverse of removal and if your going to do it go to rockauto.Com and look up your vehicle and then the parts in a/c & heating you want the clutch and pulley ok good luck stephen

I thought that Onstar was a GM product. Lincoln has another type of communications system called Sirius Travel Link in 2008, I read.

However, I also read, that Onstar can be added to a lot of vehicles through Best Buy starting spring 2011.

All you have to do is change the rear view mirror and it links into the car's system.

The above link answers questions about Onstar Addon which is available in the Spring from BestBuy and will cost about $299 for the hardware and about $75 to $100 to install it on any vehicle including your 2010 Lincoln MKS.

It should be installed by a certified technician.

If it already has it installed, I would refer to the Onstar.com website or call the number on the site to activate the Onstar system.

The most common cause of clicking (under the hood) while driving is an undercharged AC system. The sound is the compressor constantly turning on and shutting off. The problem could also be related to the temperature control panel which could constantly call for the compressor to turn on and off.
