This will show you where your fuel pump is BUT that may not be your problem. You should hook up a manual fuel pressure gauge to your fuel rail and watch what the fuel pressure does when it dies.I If the pressure does not drop then you have a different problem like a tps switch loosing connection tho the throttle body or fuel pressure regulator. http://www.fixya.com/cars/t8631798-change_fuel

Have you done a tune lately on the car?
I would also suspect a fuel pump problem is you've done a tune up recently.

SOURCE: car turns over great will not start

IT DEFFO SOUNDS LIKE LACK OF FUEL, BUT FOR IT NOT TO RUN AT ALL UNLESS THROTTLE IS FULLY OPEN DOESN'T SOUND LIKE AN INJECTOR, MORE LIKE NO FUEL AT ALL, LIKE THE PUMP IS KNACKERED. PULL OUT AN INJECTOR, PUT IT IN A GLASS JAR, THEN TRY AND START IT, IT SHOULD GIVE A BIG POWERFUL SQUIRT OF FUEL, TRY ALL THE INJECTORS ONE AT A TIME, BECAUSE ITS QUITE RARE FOR ALL THE INJECTORS TO GO AT TE SAME TIME

SOURCE: won't start unless you push

it sounds like fuel pump is going. pressure should be around 40 psi.
Or it could be flooding. Holding gas pedal to floor during cranking of the engine, shuts off fuel flow through the injectors to clear a flooded engine. After engine is running again, it lets fuel flow.

If you have a Mass Air Flow Sensor in the iar intake tube, clean it with spray carb cleaner several times.

Also, try disconnecting the oxygen sensor to see if it helps. It will turn your check engine light on, but you can cycle key from off to "on" 40 times to turn it off.

How do you test a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick fuel pump & where is the gas filter located?

Have you checked your fuses? It sounds like an ignition control module possibly. Start with the easy stuff before ya get crazy with the fuel pump. You can pull the fuel line off the throttle body and have someone try to start it to see if it's pumping. It's pressurised though and it will push a ton of gas through it really quick so be careful.

I Have replaced my starter and my battery and now the van does start up but shuts off after about 5 secs. When u push on the gas pedal it goes straight to the floor. Could it be a fuel filter? And if so...

if its not the fuel filter more than likely its your fuel pump.fuel filter is under your van around your fuel tank some where.you need metric wrenches to take it off. be careful not to twist your gas lines when taking off filter.good luck
