Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable, wait 15 minutes then reconnect. If the problem is fixed the light should be out when you restart the vehicle. If this doesn't work you may need a scan tool to clear the codes. Some parts stores have scan tools and will help 6iu out free of charge.

SOURCE: LS430 check VSC light on after check engine light on

My car (06 GS430) began giving me more frequent "Check VSC" warnings. (Code P0455 in my case. Really glad I bought that OBDII tool--resetting the codes is a snap!)

I knew that a loose gas cap could cause this, so normally I just give it a twist and it tightens. Now I found that no matter how many "clicks" I tightened the gas cap, it would not cinch down snug. The lightest turn the opposite way would open it.

I was all set to head over to CarQuest for a replacement filler cap. But I thought I'd inspect mine first just to see why it stopped holding. Upon inspection, I saw that what holds the cap in place is compression of the rubber O-ring at the back of the cap, which compresses against the filler neck. That apparently was no longer happening.

I carefully removed the O-ring from the cap--using screwdrivers to lift it over the edge of the groove it sits in. Like removing a bike tire from the rim--work your way around. Then I cut a strip of electrical tape about 10" long, and 1/4" wide. I wound this into the curved groove where the O-ring normally sits, just to build up a little thickness. Put the O-ring back in place. Done.

Now the cap tightens like it's supposed to, and thus far, it has stopped the VSC error codes. Don't know if it will fix your issue or not, Good luck.

SOURCE: 2005 dodge Ram 1500 truck 5.7 Hemi check engine lights comes on

Two things you want to know about the check engine light on any vehicle. One is it's an emission warning. The most common cause is a loose gas cap, make sure it clicks when you gas up. Second, is that being an emissions light, is that it'll require some test equipment to find the problem if you checked the gas cap and it's tight. You will want to do that at your friendly Dodge dealer. Why? They'll not only know what it is, it might be fixed free in the emissions warranty which has some parts that are covered longer than the vehicle's regular warranty. The shop on the corner doesn't do warranty work and they're not going to tell you if it might be covered.

SOURCE: hold light blinking, check engine light on, engine slows down

check tps sensor (throttle position sensor in backside of the throttle cable) and map sensor (manifold absolute pressure on front little 1 inch sensor with vacuum line) make sure there plugged in. the ecm (engine control module driver side inner fender) and tcm (transmission control module under dash) both need the data to know when to upshift and increase fuel/air. Otherwise the computer runs default values and guesses off of other sensors giving poor performance. also disconnect battery for 15 min. usually resets aveo service lights if you dont have a scanner.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Tarus Check fuel cap light

I don't think this will help but I'm willing to share my experience. My gas cap light stays on all the time. I was told to buy a new gas cap. (from different stores I bought 5). Everytime I would replace the cap the light would go away for a day or 2 but returned and is still on. The Dealership said it has been happening but nothing to worry about. I have had no troubles because of it, just annoying.

I am in a lender car and the engine light came on the 2005 ford tarus what is the problem.

Why would you ask that question?
Check lights have been on vehicles for 31 years.
Everyone should know by now, that you need to check for the code set, when the light came on.
The codes you get, are a starting point for diagnostic troubleshooting, not something that tells you what's wrong or needs replacing.
Education is the key here

2005 Honda Pilot: engine light suddenly stays on and radio turns off intermittently and then comes back on by itself. Any ideas?

Loose connection to battery caused radio to turn off when the brakes were applied! Overheating was a simple matter of low coolant... thought the two problems were related at first because they both started happening at the same time!
