My 2006 saturn ion has a gas leak i was told that i need a fuel pump is this possible being that the car is just 2006 i was told that it is to soon for a pump
Misnikie32 . .. I just had the same problem around the time you figured out your problem and I just got it fixed yesterday. For almost 3 weeks I had starting problems and I constantly smelled gas. The problem is a safety issue and the car needs to be recalled. The hose that is connected to the fuel pump is cracked. Since the hose is incorporated with the fuel pump, the entire mechanism needs to be changed. Look at spending about 700.00 . I informed saturn and told them my life was at danger. Please contact them on their website and goto your state's attorney general and launch a complaint, as well as the office of defective investigations and the NTSAB (google them). This needs to be brought to their attention and all owners of this car. I googled this and many other people are having this problem. Some are even on this forum. PLEASE DO THIS ! ! ! !
To continue . . I DROVE FOR 3 WEEKS WITH A GAS LEAK . . and many others are doing the same. . . .
I own a 2007 Ion and have the same issue, Saturn Corp says only certain vehicles were recalled "mine wasn't one of them" but my car has a faulty line in the same spot. Please join me in reporting this safety issue and hopefully GM will add all ION's with this part recalled before someones car explodes! Call NTSB at 888-327-4236 and report your issues to GM and Saturn and let them know that they need to fix this safety issue by recalling all the vehicles with this poor made plastic part handling fuel.
we have a 2006 ion and we have been smelling gas for about 2 weeks..and have had to replace a sensor that has gone out again..had the car less than a month when sensor 1st went out..the dealership ws \'nice\' enough to pay the labor as long as we bought the 250 part..and sometimes it takes awhile to start..pass key problem something to do with security system..this cars a lemon

My wife called GM yeterday to see if she could "get scheduled" to have the fuel pump in her 2006 Ion with 25K miles!!! repaired. The GM rep knew all about it and told she had to call the Saturn division, The Saturn rep told her that Satrun knows nothing about any recall for fuel pump problems! Wife attempted to direct her to the NHTSA web site where the recall is clearly posted, and the rep told her they don't recognize that body, or some souch nonsense.
Maybe she dialed the wrong number??? This is outrageous.
Can you enlighten me as to how you got "scheduled" ?
