2002 Grand Prix 3.8L V6 now runs fine after the mass air flow sensor was replaced, does not stall or **** anymore. However, check engine light stays on. Mechanic checked with code scanner and it says "MAF-VAT LOW INPUT". I'm guessing it's code PO102 after reading answers here. Anyway, mechanic says he's going to check where the "Volume Air FLow Sensor" is, but has not gotten to it. Could you help, please.
Yes, on models older than 1996 but on 96 and newer you have to connect an obd-II diagnostic machine to erase trouble codes all 96 and newer vehicles are like this! If the check engine light isn't on then auto zone won't connect the computer because it is an intermittent fault! I hope you have good luck and fix your problem with ease?
Most faultcodes don't disappear automaticly, the have to be 'reset' manually after repairing. It sounds like the code didn't get erased after replacing the MAF. You could try to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes (disconnect and reconnect the negative (-) pole), which should erase the code.
Whenever the engine light still comes back on after that, there probably still is some (other) problem ...
