For your car, the timing chain/belt must come off. You will have to retime the valve train. If you haven't done that before. You might want to hire a mechanic. The procedures are available on autozone.com

The intake where the thermostat goes is in the driver side of the motor behind the altenator. I had to remove the front clip of the car and the altenator to get to it. It is quite a job.

Good luck! I can't type out the entire process but you need alot of tools, some chrysler only tools,a good manual, since you never did it before, coolant, the pump, new timing belt,a torque wrench for the timing belt tensioner, etc. Leave it to a pro.

How do you change a water pump in a 2004 dodge intrepid?

Good luck with that. Take it to a capable mechanic with the right specialty tools. Its located inside the engine behind the timing chain. Its a mother to replace yourself. Takes about 8 hours labor. Will run about 750$ to replace. I say use a mechanic because it involves alot and anything can go wrong removing and replacing all those components.

Over heating and water dripping out underneath front by radiator, but not the radiator.

Could be a hose or the water pump, but Dodge Intrepids are Famous for blowing the head gaskets. I'll bet that's what's going on with yours also.

My water outlet cap popped off and its leaking water and the water that stays boils. Should i replace my water pump 2003 dodge intrepid se 2.7

replace the cap--is the radiator damaged? No reason to replace the water pump. Boiling is caused by leak, faulty thermostat, clogged radiator, or head gasket.

Is water pump easy to access? have to change someones water pump and have never look under hood of Intrepid. Have to fix in driveway and have like 2' of snow here. Just wondering if there is any under car...

No under car work involved - this operation can be done from above - hard on back -- water pump is located inside timing cover - runs of timing belt
