There are rubber seals on the valve cover that stop oil from getting into the tubes. These aren't called grommets though, though they may look similar. A grommet is to top protect wiring or other items from being damaged by sharp edges of meter as they are rooted through an opening.

SOURCE: 1992 Isuzu Rodeo Distributor wires 3.1L engine

Hi,
Isuzu seem to have complicated things by changing engines, firing orders and even direction of rotation! As you can see, they've numbered the cylinders the other way than the 3.2L.

The Firing sequence for the 3.1 (traditional distributor) 6 cylinder is as follows -

d6e5b2a.jpg

If you take the distributor cap off, there should be a "No.1" formed on the inside. Stick a lead on this before you put the cap back on and go from there.
As leads are different lengths, you may have to swap a few to find the best fit.

I think 2 of them will look out of place - but that's the way it's designed. Just make use of clips for holding them neatly.

Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: Isuzu Rodeo w/3.1L engine

Front Passenger side on cap is 1 - if you look on the inside of your cap there SHOULD be a pin marked with a 1, and the plugs go CLOCKWISE not counter. Just had the same problem myself with my 91 Rodeo. Cylinders are as follows Passenger side (front to back) 1 - 3 - 5, Driver side (front to back) 2 - 4 - 6. I called the Isuzu dealer and they told me it was counter clockwise, but when I hooked it up that way it backfired through the Carb.

Location of spark plugs on 1997 isuzu rodeo

You have to remove the coil packs and the plugs are down in them holes. 6 coil packs 3 on the left driver side of engine 3 on the other side. 3 square black blocks/each side. Take screw out, pull up on the block. A tube will slide out the hole with it. Spark plug in hole.

1995 Isuzu Rodeo Developed a miss... Changed plugs and wires still has a miss. Plugs are getting awfully wet from fuel. any ideas?

If the check engine light is on, you should have the computer scanned for trouble codes to find the area to test.
Could be a faulty O2 sensor, or leaking injector.

I can't find spark plugs on my 2000 isuzu rodeo. Where you would expect them is an electrical connection but no plugs. It is a 6 cylinder. Does it have plugs and if so where are they?

The electrical connection goes to the coil pack. It is a box connected to a tube that reaches down to the spark plug. remove fasteners and pull coil pack out. The plug is located down in the hole

Where is MAF sensor on 1994 isuzu rodeo Runs rough

The sensor should be right there where the intake air duct meets the air filter housing.
That oil down in the spark plug tube is most likely from a leaking valve gover gasket. Oil in there can and will cause misfires.

How do you replace spark plug seals on 1995 Isuzu 3.2?

the metal seal under the spark plug should never be replaced, just replace plugs if leaking (rare) , but if oil is leaking into the 'plug tube' then tappet cover gaskets will need replacment.

Oil leaking into sparkplug chamber

thread dammaged in head causing spark pug to come loose can fit heli coil to fix thread in head so spark plug wont come loose and leak oil into tube. other places oil can come from to cover plug in oil
remove rocker cover then remove spark plug tube they are screwed into head and clean thread of tube and apply sealant loctite to thread refit to head and may pay to replace seal for top of spark plug tube that is in rocker cover
one of these or both can leak, if tube is tight in head it may not be leaking the top seal is
