SOURCE: what are the symptoms of a bad egr valve ina 1994 geo tracker?

this may help
EGR Theory. EGR serves one purpose and one purpose only. That purpose is to reduce Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx). Undernormal combustion, Nitrogen(N2)Oxygen (O2) in the air and Hydrocarbons (HC) in the fuel combind into water(H2O) Carbon dioxide (CO2) and the Nitrogen remains unchanged. Under very hot combustion temperatures, the Nitrogen reacts with the other two byproducts and forms Nitrogen oxide (NO). After being released into the atmosphere, it picks up another Oxygen and becomes Nitrogen dioxide (NO2). In the presence of sunlight,
it combines with other compounds like Hydrocarbons and forms Smog. Since exhaust gas is inert (very stable) it doesn’t burn again. So by being introduced into
the combustion chamber, it will lower combustion chamber temps enough so that
the Nitrogen doesn’t react with the other compounds and is passed unchanged out
the tailpipe thus not contributing to smog. Now, since exhaust gas doesn’t burn, it
doesn’t exactly help with combustion. At higher RPM’s, this really isn’t noticable,
but at idle, the reintroduction of exhaust gas will cause a very rough idle and can
cause stalling if to much is introduced into the combustion chamber

SOURCE: what are the typical symptoms of a bad egr valve

A vacuum leak at the egr valve can cause rough idle and almost stalling condition.

A non functioning egr valve that is plugged up won't affect driveability, but NOx will be in the exhaust at normal operating temperature which may not be good for an emissions test if they test for that in your area.

Good luck on this repair.

SOURCE: 95 check s-10 blazer idle

An EGR that is stuck opencan very well cause the symptom you are decribing, including surging at idle and poor acceleration.

Failure of GM EGR Valves is quite rare.
A common problem on the 4.3L Vortec engines is failure of the Central Multiport Injection Assembly located between the plastic upper intake plenum and the lower intake manifold.

Sometimes failure of injector lines and/or the fuel pressure regulator (Part of the MFI Assembly) will cause fuel to spill into the upper plenum area. This can dislodge carbon deposits in the upper plenum which then get stuck in the EGR Valve and cause the symptoms that you are describing. The EGR Valve can be removed and cleaned. Replacement is not usually necessary.
Ido recommend replacement of the injector assembly however.

check out this solution page for more info regarding this.

1996 Toyota Corolla 1.6l what is the symptoms of a bad EGR Valve Control Solenoid?

The symptoms of a bad EGR Valve Control Solenoid in a 1996 Toyota Corolla 1.6L include rough idling or stalling, a smell of fuel, increased fuel consumption, pinging, tapping, or knocking sounds, failed smog test, and check engine light on . If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is recommended to get your vehicle checked by a professional mechanic.

In terms of DIY, you can try cleaning the solenoid valve with throttle body cleaner and then test the solenoid electronically with a 12-volt supply. If that doesn't work, you can replace the EGR valve, vacuum modulator, and VSV (if equipped) and clean out the carbon buildup to the intake from the EGR valve.

Please note that if you decide to drive the car without the EGR valve and the EGR Valve Solenoid working, you can keep cancelling the code. The ECM will try and work things out and compensate. However, it is not recommended to bypass the EGR valve .

Symptoms bad egr valve

Bad EGR valves can cause surging issues but the check engine light would turn on to indicate the problem after a few hours of driving. I would suspect the injectors or an intake maniofold vacuum leak is present.

EV solenoide bad?

When you say EV are you refering to EGR Valve? Because a slightly open EGR valve will cause a 02 code to appear. Either way clean out the EGR or replace, as for the 02 you will have more trouble testing it when you can rather replace it3_27_2012_4_14_46_am.jpg3_27_2012_4_15_21_am.jpg

PO400 check engine light is on seems to run normal what to do?

P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is vacuum controlled valve that regulates the amount of exhaust gases that re-enter the cylinders. The powertrain control module (PCM) determines how much based on engine load, temp, and other conditions. If the PCM detects that the amount of exhaust gases entering the cylinder were insufficient or non-existent, this code is set.

No symptoms will likely be noticed by the driver other than the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp). However, non visible symptoms will be increased combustion temperature and increased Nox emissions. A code P0400 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
- Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses
- Faulty EGR solenoid
- Faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness
- Vacuum lines damaged/disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve
- Faulty EGR valve

Check it and keep us updated.

Chevy 2002 Malibu ERG valve

Symptoms of a bad EGR valve are usually stumbling idle or the engine stalling when the car is warm (normal operating temperature). Find the EGR valve and locate the vacuum line attached to it. Start the engine cold and wait for it to warm up. When the engine starts to stumble, pull off the vacuum line. If the EGR is bad, the engine idle will stabilize and no longer stumble.
