My 2005, Pontiac sunfire has no activity after I changed the fuses because I thought that was why 2 of the gauges died first. However, I changed the fuses and then no gauges worked. Now, with no attempt to fix it, the rpm, and gas gauges will randomly get readings? What is your idea???

I recently changed my instrument panel to fix electronic trans. shift error. It had relays built in I found out. I got a used one cheap on eBay and resolved the issue in 2 days after free shipping to boot. PTL

Check your negative ground cable first thing. make sure that it is clean on the battery and all the other places it attaches too, and there are several. disconnect the battery negative and clean it and then disconnect the positive too. when you reinstall them after at least 5 minutes make sure they are very tight. not to the point of breaking them but tight.
check back see, turn the key to the On only then off and then ON ( not start) shut it off and then start it as normal. is your check engine light on?

SOURCE: check gauges light

Possible bad guage, bad wiring, or bad sending unit. Check each one independently of each other, start with wiring first, then sending unit.

SOURCE: rear window defroster pontiac sunfire

those can be tricky to solve. get in the back of the car and look for a connector on the window. some times for some reason they let go. if it has let go then visit you auto store and ask for a fix there are a few products that are cheap. if it has not let go then if you know how to use a multi meter check for voltage on the connector/s if theres voltage then there is a break in the defroster somwhere

SOURCE: 2005 sunfire gauges all wacked out

All these gauges are controlled by a fuse, start there first, if they are blow just replace them, you should find all necessary info in your manual that came with the car when you bought it new.

Fuel gauge doesn't work 1999 pontiac sunfire

check fuses, remove sender unit from tank, connect ohm meter to it and physically move arm up and down slowly and check for increase/decrease in resistance,if this is ok then supply power to the wiring to gauge and see if the needle rises,if no change in resistance sender is rooted,if no change in gauge when it is supplied power then the gauge is rooted, when diagnosing electrical probs always check fuses firstelectrical
