It is generally a good idea to change your plug wires at the same time as your spark plugs because the act of removing and replacing the wire on the new plug can damage the wire very easily it is a common problem after changing plugs to have a bad plug wire
sounds like the pick-up coil in the distributor. when pick-up coil goes bad they sometimes have intermittent electrical contact, therefore causing veh to run rough at times, and fine at some. it will eventually go out totally.
Have you changed the plugs lately? You may need a tune up. Change the plugs and wires. Also, check your distributor cap. If you haven't had a tune up in a long time, I would get it done. Make sure you check for a vacuum leak as well. A simple leak can make a car run rough.
Spark plug wire. Every time my car acted up, with bumper to bumper coverage, it was the plug wires, and the only thing that wasn't covered in the warranty. Plug wires.. Do you know how many times I took that car in for spark plug wires?? 3 times!!!,,, every time , it was $300!!!! I couldn't believe it. Anyway, check your wires, make sure they are not rubbing on any metal parts that would short them out. Replace the one, or all, that should do it. Hope this helps.
Check and make sure your distributor cap and rotor are not corroded and gunked up. If a spark plug is ever dropped, the center electrode could be cracked leading to a improperly firing spark plug (causing a misfire). parts get dropped during shipping all the time.
My truck did the same thing. I changed the plugs with the ones the parts store recommended and it still acted gutless. Then I took it to the toyota dealership and they told me the plugs were not the right ones. So make sure you have the right plugs with a couple different parts store. i guess there sensitive and not just any plugs will work. Do it yourself though cause the dealership will rape you. Stevenson toyota in Golden colorado sucks!
