Put 2 new wheel cylinders on my 1998 Chevy Silverado 4 wheel drive. Been working fine, but 3 days after installation one new cylinder has "blown out". Thoughts?

First thought- defective cylinder. Now when you say blown out do you mean came apart and the cups and cylinders came out? If that is so then I would say faulty installation. The cylinder rod may not have been installed correctly. Or the shoe hold down springs came apart.

SOURCE: 1999 chevy silverado service 4 wheel drive light

I had a similar problem with the Service 4 Wheel Drive light which came on intermittently then became more consistent in the message center display. It would go into 4 wheel drive if the message center did not display the Service 4 Wheel Drive message in the message center, but not when the message was displayed. I found the transfer case switch module in the dash was defective, and it has been working with no other problems for three years.

I have a Chevy 2500 pick up truck. My son thought he'd replace the spark plugs. He removed the distributor cap, didn't understand it and now the truck won't start. He did not replace any spark...

firing order for 5.7 v8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 mostly all of the chevy v8s are the same firing order. the rotor button in distributer turns clockwise, the cylinder numbers are 1-3-5-7 on drivers side, 2-4-6-8 is on passengers side. To get started get your distrutor cap[new one] look on the top you will see a #1that's where you begin you must know if if rotates clockwise or counter clockwise start in that direction then follow the firing order and cylinder line up. good-day!! if cap is not marked, just pull out #1 plug, put a straw or similar in plug hole on top of piston. turn engine over by crank in front of vehicle with a wrench, when the piston comes to the very top just before it starts going down. this is tdc. and rotor button should be pointing to #1 wire on dist, cap. follow from there. good-day !!

I would go with the ones autozone gave to you.then I would check the coil packs for those 2 cylinders and see if that's the problem. If that ain't the problem then I would check the crank sensor

How do i change wheel cylinder on 1998 silverado

Remove the tire and drum. Remove the brake line from the back of the wheel cylinder. Remove the to bolts that secure the wheel cylinder to the backing plate. Remove the wheel cylinder.

After you install the new one it will need to be bled. This is a 2 person job.
