Hi, from what I have read, Mercedes Benz have their power steering reservoir under a plastic plenum. So you will need to remove this plenum to access the power steering reservoir. Best of luck!

I have a power steering leak on my 1998 Toyota Camry.  I have been using over the counter stop leaking fluids, but it has not helped.  It leaks more during the cold weather as oppose to hot weather. Deme

SOURCE: power steering

Sounds like a bad steering rack & pinion assembly... is it only bad in one direction or both...?
If both then it's the rack assembly... Hope this helps...;-)

SOURCE: 2004 Saturn Ion - Power Steering Problem

The motor on the power steering is overheating which causes the thermal overloads to trip.

go tho the junk yard and buy a motor for a 2004 thru 206 ion or a 2004 thru 2008 chevy colbalt.

they are all the same. You may have to buy the wholle steering colum but you can remove the motor with 2 - 12mm bolts and a quick dissconnect pulg. Replace just the motor as the whole steering colum is a bit more complicated. the dealerships want you to replace the whoe steering colum, in fact that is the only way they sell the parts. It is a scam. Just the motor needs to be replaced.
I have done it on 4 different ions. try to get a motor with few as possible miles and as new as possible. I have paid between $50 and $125 for these. The dealer wants $900 fnad about $500 to install. It is very simple to do. Only 2 bolts.

SOURCE: stiff steering

do you live in high salted areas? If so, My freestyle had the same problem. It's the joint in the steering column (you can see it from underneath the vehicle) Just keep it lubed. I had to replace mine because it had worn out. Expensive. Also, it could be the bearings on top of your front struts. Dirt gets into it and binds it up. Poor engineering designs.

Ford Focus Zetec feeling stiff when in full steering lock on

What year is this Focus? First you need to work out what the "Clonk" is. Is this clonk only as you turn or does happen when you hit pot holes? The most common reason for a steering/suspension noise is one of the joints on the system. Get the bottom ball joint, the track rod ends and the drop links looked at.
If your car is before 2011 check the fluid level in the power steering. After 2011 they changed to electric power steering. Sometime the stiffness is that easy to fix. If you need to top it up only fill to the MAX line. After topping it up, With the engine running, turn the steering all the way to the left then all the way to the right and repeat it 3 or 4 times. This bleeds the system.
If the joints are all OK you need to look at the actual steering rack.

Hi don't no if its traction control prob but on my A-class 160 2000 when i'm driving my steering goes very stiff and it makes it hard to turn can no lights come on it just does it pls can you help. toni.

Traction control does not make steering go stiff, it works via the ABS sensors and engine control unit. Depending on how often this fault occurs it could simply be a slipping drive belt which turns the power steering pump when under pressure

Ignition sometimes will not turn. I thinl it is the pins min the lock

remove the steering wheel careful not to discharge air bags if equipped and remove lock plate with a lock plate compresser tool that you can rent most auto stores once you have the lock plate assmbly off then look around the tumbler assembly theres a screw that goes into the housing and holds the ignition tumbler in place remove it then pull the switch assmbly out and replace and reverse proceedures

Power steering is stiff some times on my kia sedona

It might be a failing power steering rack as well...classic symptoms are very stiff when first starting vehicle or at a stoplight, then loosens up as rpms increase.

My steering has gotten stiff when I turn corners, car handles fine the rest of the time, the power steering fluid level is fine

I have seen struts get tight with age. In which case it would be time to change the shocks in the struts.
But the power steering could also be going as well. They it with both front tires jacked off the ground, and the engine off. It should be easy to turn, lock to lock.

2004 Grand Prix

This is definitely a power steering problem. I had this same problem about a year ago. I had to get my Power Steering Rack replaced, this fixed the noise and problem. You can add power steering fluid as a temporary fix, but your problem will not permanently go away. You are probably leaking fluid out of your steering rack.

The sound that you are hearing probably happens more often when you are acclerating around a turn, right?? Does it sound like a little foreign car in reverse?? Also, the wheel may be a little stiff when first starting out.
