They're hinged at the base so you should be able to lift the blades up from the park position with the hood down. I hope this helps. Take care.

SOURCE: 2006 kia wipper works but stops in the middle of the windshield

It sounds like the the circuit board has gone bad and does not know where the base is any more so it will stop at the middle or the windshield. Auto Zone should have a new board if it's replaceable like the GM products. Good luck and hope this helps, In the mean time you can always turn your wipers on and pull the fuse out when it's at the down position so it's not up.

SOURCE: how do I change wiper blades on a Ford 500

This is a fairly simple job.
#1 Pull the wiper arm away from the vehicle.
#2 Turn the blade 90 degrees so that the blade and the arm make a 'capital T' shape.
#3 Pull the blade straight off of the arm.
#4 Install the new wiper blade so that it forms a ' T ' with the arm.
#5 Turn the blade back to the normal position in line with the arm.
#6 Ease the wiper arm and blade back against the windshield.
#7 You are done. Good luck

2007 Pontiac g6 wipers stay in upright position

Hey Derek , here is how the wipers park position is suppose to work !
Windshield wiper motor park operation is controlled by the body control module (BCM) using an input from the park switch within the wiper motor assembly. The BCM monitors the windshield wiper motor park switch circuit to determine if the windshield wiper blades are at the bottom of the glass. The circuit will be pulled to ground by the wiper motor park switch while the windshield wiper motor is operating. When the wiper switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the BCM will continue to operate the motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned OFF while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The BCM will park the wipers the next time the ignition is turned ON.
The wipers will not park when they are commanded ON and OFF with a scan tool. The BCM will park the wipers the next time the wiper switch is turned ON and OFF.
The BCM provides stall protection for the wiper motor by monitoring the park switch. If the park switch does not transition for 3 seconds while the wipers are operating, the BCM will assume that the wiper motor is stalled, and will de-energize the wiper relay until the wiper switch is cycled OFF and ON again.
Check for a voltage signal on the yellow wire at the wiper motor assembly , this is signal to the BCM ! If there is no signal you need to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly ? If there is a signal need to have Tech 2 scan tool hooked up to see if The BCM is the problem ! Relay #39 an #40 are the high an low wiper relays in the under hood fuse block ! Do you have a volt meter ,do you know how to do electrical testing ?

I have a 2000 vw jetta, when i turn on wiper blades i can hear the motor but the blades are not engaged

Wiper motor arm disengaged or slipping on drive shaft.

Wiper arms slipping on splines at pivot point of wiper arm.,,,more likely.

Wipers are held to drive splines with a 10mm nut.

Make sure wipers are in in 'parked' position buy turning on ignition and making sure wiper switch is OFF.

Turn off ignition.

Pry off the black round plastic cover off the arm where it attaches at the splines. ( Drive splines on lower windshield cowl.)

Tighten nut/s.

Where is the windshield washer relay located

They (the wiper motor and mechanism) are underneath the cowl vent screen.

To replace the motor and mechanism:
1: Turn the ignition to the on position with the wipers at low speed. When the arms are point straight up, turn it off.

2: Use a small screwdriver and pry the plastic caps from the wiper arm mounting ends.

3: Disconnect negative battery terminal

4: Remove the small retaining nup from each wiper arm, then the arms.

5: Remove the cowl screen by turning the eight plastic retainers 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Next remove the six screen retaining clips. If it's a 2000 or later, remove four bolts that secure the arm monting bar so that you can access the wiper motor.

6: Disconnect the electical connections and remove the four screws that secure the motor and mechanism to the cowl, and take out the motor-mechanism assembly.

7: The drive mechanism isn't serviceable, but the motor can be replaced. Remove the operating arm nut from the motor shaft, and remove the three screws that hold the motor to the drive mechanism.

8: Reinstall the wiper mechanism into the cowl and connect the electrical connectors. (Before reinstalling the wiper arms and blades, turn the ignition to the on position and turn the wiper switch to either LO or HI, then turn the wiper switch Off. This lets the motor cycle to the park position thus avoiding damage to the arms and drive mechanism).

9: Install the wiper pivot arms, ensuring the blade tips align with the park reference mark at the base of the windshield.

10: Ensure that your wiper blade is fully seated on the wiper arm before operation the wipers.

11: Finish up the reverse way you began.
