SOURCE: after mud and water went

your filters should have prevented mud from getting to your injetors, water in the system can cause some problems but nothing so drastic as to change the injectors injector pump or the rail....change your filters, water collectors. make sure there is no more mud or water in your tank . not familiar with that particular engine but you may have to bleed the injection system....oh and get a new mechanic

SOURCE: mercedes benz S420 W221 2007 having hard start,

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi Fuso Truck engine model 6M70 Intermittent opening and closing of exhaust valve.

this is an exhaust brake truck where the brake is in the exhaust manifold
the brake valve is actuated through a solenoid that controls the air pressure to the valve cylinder or the electric solenoid for the valve
it is operated either by the driver through a switch on the steering column or by a switch at the accelerator pedal where when the exhaust brake is switched on then with the accelerator pedal in the idle position it activates the actuator
there the problem will be in the switch at the base of the accelerator pedal, the switch in the dash or in the actuator itself

Testimonial: "thanks a lot bill for your immediate reply.do i need to undergo ECU scanning to locate where the fault coming from?I have already check the switch on the accelerator pedal and it is working properly so with the switch on the clutch pedal. Now the issue is even though i did not push the exhaust brake switch to on position at the steering column the exhaust brake opens and closes the exhaust brake valve as the engine temperature reaches around 1/4 of the temperature gauge."

SOURCE: How to test the injector of fuso 6m70 manually

An injector test rig would be better and safer and most good engine diagnosticians will have one.

Testing an electrical injector without a rig is difficult and not a very safe practice especially in the case of diesel injectors. Even with traditional diesel injectors the spray is at such a high pressure it can penetrate skin quite easily requiring the amputation of the affected part. Common rail diesel injection takes place at a much higher pressure.
With both petrol and diesel the resulting spray is highly inflammable.
