My 2012 Patriot is making a noise coming from rear. I noticed the gas tank & exhaust pipe are a little loose. When car is running, it has a noise from back there. Any idea?

SOURCE: engine misfiring/fuel coming out exhaust

Sounds like you may need to inspect and replace your fuel line from front to rear. no other reason for your problem.

SOURCE: thick white smoke coming from exhaust

I would think this will be a blown turbo.

These are fed by a small oil pipe and if the unit overheats (due to wear) - this oil fill feed directly into either the inlet manifold - or the outlet - exhaust.
If it is spilling oil into the hot exhaust - you will get a thick white fog. You can confirm this by placing a clear glass bottle or jar in the exhaust stream - and see if it gets a thick coating of oil on it. If it evaporates - it's water, if not - or feels oily - new turbo or overhaul.

Best get is sortd sooner rather than later - as you may be able to save most of it for an overhaul rather than scrap it if badly worn.

SOURCE: '00 VW jetta, ck engine lt on & now exhaust is loud

This sounds more like you have an exhaust leak and it doesn't mean the check engine light has is related to your louder exhaust note. I don't understand how checking the 02 sensor be related to it either unless he meant if it came loose or lost it all together which is rare but not impossible. What I can suggest is have someone with a VAG 1552 scan tool or equivalent like the Ross Tech (PC app) scan your system. If there are faults, a specific DTC will be in stored in memory. Depending on the issue which determines the difficulty and financial investment involved fixing your problem.

SOURCE: Hissing noise coming from the rear of the car. I

probabbly not the brakes, maybe the tires but u need to check that, if u hear that noise with the engine running it might be a burned out gasket on your exhaust line

Rattling sound when car is in drive

Sounds like an exhaust pipe is loose. Check the exhaust pipe hangers. They are the rubber rings that hold the pipes in place. One of them may have broken or come loose. Also, have you run over something recently that may have been the exhaust? Good Luck

Rear car driver side noise when there is gas in the tank and when pushing gas pedal

The problem you are discribing could well be the impending failure of the fuel pump I am assuming that this is a late model fuel injected car . The noise is transfered by the fuel in the tank . Have a tech check and make sure you have only a small amount of fuel in the tank when getting the pump replaced as the gas tank must be removed in order to replace the pump . Hope this is some help

Rattling noise when I press the gas pedal or when the vehicle is running idle.

Hi,
Likely an exhaust heat shield. When the SUV is cold - after sitting for 4+ hours - crawl under the vehicle and see if any of the shields are loose that cover the exhaust pipes. If they are you can use sheet metal screws screwed into the shield and against the exhaust pipeto 'wedge' the shield so it doesn't move.

Pump noise in rear of car keeps running / Gas pump or load leveller / seems longer run time olately in cold weather ( 1999 olds aurora)

you might have a leak in the rear suspension load leveler. check connections with soapy water. locate where sound is coming from. fuel pump in tank is a slight hum and not that noticable, but the air comp for load leveler is. Also spray around rubber boots on shocks, also check load leveler switch on axle to frame for broken or loose lever control.

Exhaust problems

What you are hearing is probably a heat shield on the exhaust system that is loose. It won't cause any harm to drive it like this, it's just annoying. A 'cheap fix' would be to jack the car up, support w/ safety stands, look for something loose on the exhaust system (make sure the car has cooled off, you don't want to grab a hot exhaust pipe), You can usually re-attach the loose shield with something like a wire coat hanger. It may require drilling a hole in the corner of the shield, and then securing the wire after running thru the drilled hole. If you choose to take it to a garage, have them show u what's making the noise, and suggest this fix. If they want to change major exhaust components, tell them u would like to do this, and not an expensive repair at this time. good luck countrycurt0
Another possibility is the engine 'pinging'. I'm assuming the noise is coming from under the car, engine pinging would come from the engine itself. If you believe the noise is from the exhaust, ok, if not let me know. cc
