Hi I bought a cen 7.7 mt an its bin running well but then all of a sudden it won’t engage or stay in gear , I change the servo an still problem , I’ll start it an it will go like five meters angry like alway the it screaming it’s ring out off like the motor is all well in line an everthing seems fine An boom it’s like screaming not engquged

I had the same problem - it was a fuse that controls the speedometer and the shifting solenoid

SOURCE: Starter wont engage ring gear.

eathier it needs shims or you have a bad flywheel sounds like its free spinning at times pull the starter an turn the ring gear make sure its not missing teeth if not you may need shims

CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE AND THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE.IF THEY BOTH CHECK OUT OKAY.YOU HAVE A FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH OR FAULTY BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID.

Also try the crv recall replacing the ignition mechanism where you insert the key. I have the same problem and was solved after reading about it in one blog.. it is free. It appears that it got shorted and will automatically kill the engine. after a while it will be cold again and you will be able to start the engine..
