Check throttle position sensor ( t.p.s) and wires going into t.p.s. sometimes they corrode or crack and ground with each other!

Testimonial: "I'll will check that out thank you"

  • Jana Brown Feb 10, 2019

There is no check engine light on

Sometimes it won't throw a code. I had one that didn't throw a code but Up on inspection the sensor was good but wires were crumbling I replaced the connector with a good one from a junkyard and never had another problem. Does not cost anything to inspect the connector and wires.

What kind make year and model

generally speaking if you think it is fuel still if the truck is fuel injected or even carburated . try seeing how it idles with the rear of the truck up a curb and the front lower creating a natural flow from the tank. this helps to see if there is still a fuel delivery issue, also in this condition the exhaust pipe would be dry and not black around the inside edge. also usually there are 2 fuel filters one small one and one steel one closer to the engine.
if all of those are ok and fuel is flowing to injecters I would focus on the air intake equation. on the engine intake under the hood ontop while running spray water around the upper carb or injector region and listen to see if the idle n. if it does look for air or vacuum leaks and correct. next mass air flow sensor which effect idle and tells on board comp to adjust variables such as moisture and temperature as well air pressure. it has a 2 wire connector and surrounds the intake manifold before the injectors but after the air filter assembly look at it it is a tiny sensory wire that the air goes through make sure there isnt a leaf or some other obstruction causing it to misread air intake conditions. you can even try unplugging the clip normally especially on a cold engine the vehicle could or should stall. if it just continues to rough idle id get it check ed out.

lastly you could carefully while vehicle has started and running but before stalling but right when it is about to spray ether or engine starting spray down the throat of the rmoved airfilter chamber and see if the truck continues to run longer if so then u know your losing combustion from fuel loss.

lastly this time for real. since the truck keeps stalling finger or wipe around the rear exhaust pipe exit. if its black or carbony (chalky dry black u have an air or spark problem. if its dry smokey white puffy and smells sweet and funny u might have ahead gasket or coolant leaking into the chamber. if its oily sell the truck.

good luck

SOURCE: fuel pump not staying on 1993 k1500 350

Some GM products also incorporate the oil sender switch into that circuit for fuel pump, so that in case of an accident, engine shuts off, oil pressure drops, in turn, shuts off power to fuel pump. May be worth a look at what your getting for oil pressure, as well as checking switch/sender.

SOURCE: I have a 1990 isuzunpr 4bd1t diesel.Truck won't

G'day
I dont know if this will help but i had a similar problem with an isuzu sbr and after doing all that you have done i took the fuel tank off and drained it. Every thing looked fine so i washed it out with a little bit of petrol and a small piece of clear plastic came out. What it was doing was floating up when the truck was not running but after i started the truck it would slowly get sucked down to the outlet and block the fuel line.
It was very frustrating and it took me quite a while to find the problem.
hope this helps.

sounds like a fuel filter, or fuel pump, or could be spark related such as coil breaking down or bad igniter if so equipped

Try spraying a couple shots of carb spray down the throttle body while a helper cranks it over. If it starts and runs for a couple of seconds check fuel pressure and the resistance of the injectors.

1994 Ford Ranger Starts runs for 3-4 minutes then dies, changed ignition mod, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, checked vac hoses, totally lost!!!!!

As with any no-start or stall problem you will need to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition issue.
The high idle usually means you have a vac leak or a problem with the throttle body or idle air control valve. The control valve is how the computer controls the idle speed.
You'll need to watch the fuel system and spark to see which is being affected when the engine dies.
You might want to hook a test light up to the coil to see if it is loosing voltage for example.

1998 3800 v6 firebird... wont run right after starting

Possibly a weak fuel pump, idle air control valve, vacuum leaks, or loose or damaged wiring in the ignition system. Check for vacuum leaks first. That's the only one that won't cost anything. Make sure all intake bolts are tight, and all hoses are connected properly and in good condition.
