Where is the "Horn Relay" located on a 99 Ford Mustang GT?

I have a 99 GT and need to get it inspected but the Horn (on the Steering Wheel) is not working. However, the horn does work / sounds when locking with the Keyless Remote Access controller. Thinking that its either the fuse or the Horn Relay. We have located the fuse location but unable to locate where to replace the Horn Relay. Anyone have any input? Many Thanks! Hello, Yahaha37 -

Since you reside in Houston, Texas, the Houston Public Library System subscribes to a database with automobile repair manuals. The database is available in-person at any of the branch public libraries (where one of the librarians can help instruct you how to access and navigate the database.) I call them "your taxpayer dollars at work."

Also, access to the database (and the specific information for your model and year of car) can be undertaken through the Houston Public Library web pages. However, for remote access one needs a current, valid library borrower card, so that one may log into one's library account through the website.

See:
http://houstonlibrary.org/research/resources-by-category

If you do not have a current Houston Public Library borrower card, you will need to visit you local public library and apply for one. You will need a photo ID (like your driver's license.) You may also need some other form of identification, with your mailing address, like a paid utility bill.

For assistance in using the Automobile Repair Database remotely, you can call the main library phone number, 832-393- 1313 and ask to be connect to the Reference Desk, where one of the librarians can talk you through the process.

Best wishes.

If it works when locking the doors the relay is good ,an fuse . The GEM - body computer energizes the same relay to sound horns when doors are locked . Is the air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? Could be the clock spring inside the upper steering column . Watch this video

Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/ Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine . Under system click on interior an driver amenity , then under subsystem click on horn. Click search then the blue link.

Testimonial: "Jeff, thanks so much for your quick response & your assistance. Yes, airbag light flashes 2 times then 3 times. Do you know what code this represents? Also, is there a list of codes I can access for future diagnosis? Thanks so much! Heather Lee, Houston, TX"

SOURCE: My 99 Toyota Avalon horn does not make any sound.

save yourself the hassle , buy yourself a momentary 12volt switch drill a nice clean hole on your driversside dash and re-wire your horn to it, all the screwing around you'll do to figure out why toyota makes cheesy horn contacts you could have your problem fixed..

on one side of the switch you should run a wire that is a 12volt switched +
on the other side I would run another side run a new power wire to your horn
leave your horns stock ground and just replace the HOTLINE ..

you could even go as far as installing a la cou ca racha horn to bring back that 70's Lowrider feel lol

SOURCE: where is the horn located on a 1998 ford explorer

The horn is usually between the radiator and grill Assembly. The fuse is in fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side. Look at the lid and it shows the fuse placement and there use.

When i start my 96 mustang gt the horn is blowing

PATS does not blow the horn. Pull the horn fuse to see if that stops the draw. Then troubleshoot the horn circuit to see where the power is coming from. You can start at the horn relay. The relay gets a ground signal from the horn switch in the steering wheel. If that signal is constant, the problem is upstream of the relay--perhaps within the steering wheel. Do not remove the steering wheel to troubleshoot without disarming the airbag.

Where is the horn relay located on a 2007 ford edge sel

It is located in the SJB - smart junction box an it is a non- serviceable part . soldered to the board inside . Where do you hear the clicking noise coming from ? The SJB is located behind the left side kick panel .
SECTION 413-06: Horn 2007 Edge/MKX Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 10/30/2006 Horn The horn system consists of the following components:
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Clockspring
  • Horn relay (part of the smart junction box [SJB])
  • Horn
For removal and installation of the steering wheel, refer to Section 211-04 .
For removal and installation of the SJB, refer to Section 419-10 .
Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies the control and switched voltage to the horn relay (part of the SJB). When the horn switches (part of the steering wheel) are pressed, ground is supplied through the clockspring to the horn relay. The horn relay is then energized directing voltage to the horn and enabling the horn to sound. When the vehicle security system is armed, the SJB provides a momentary ground to the horn relay control side to indicate the system is armed, and an on and off ground when an intrusion is detected or the panic alarm is activated.
If your horns are not working ,you have a wiring problem or the clock spring is open . If the relay is bad the whole SJB has to be replace an the dealer would have to do that . Needs to be programmed ,with factory tool .

The horn in my 99 ford f-150 isn't working. I was wondering if there was some common problems with this and how hard it would be to diagnose and fix the problem.

You can start by checking the horn fuse in the engine compartment, fuse # 7.
If this tests good with power on both sides using a meter, next jumper the horn relay, normally open contacts. The horn relay is relay # 205 in the engine compartment fuse panel, it is the half size ISO relays. use the picture below, to find the correct pins in the relay socket to jumper with a wire.

IF the horn works with this, I would suspect a problem with the clock spring in the steering wheel. Do the other items in the steering wheel work ( cruise control ) ?

99 CAVALIER HORN RELAY LOCATION

If your horn isn't working and it isn't the horn itself the next thing to check is the horn wire in the steering wheel under the air bag. The little clip breaks off in time and the horn wire pops out. To repair you can remove the wheel and replace the part but I usually grind in a new notch in the old plastic and re attach the wire and it will work again.
Test the horn itself first. Just remove the connection to the horn and attach 2 wires to a live battery and tough the 2 sides of the contacts on the horn. If it blows the horn is good. If not replace the horn before you go any further.

Need to find the horn relay in a 1993 ford mustang gt I tested the horn and all fuses. I don't have a wiring diagram and chiltons doesn't show the horn circuit

94 was a new model freshening and I have 94. may be similar.

Horn Relay and fuse is in fuse box in engine compartment, driver side in front of strut tower.

Horn System The horn system includes:
  • Dual horns (13832) (one high pitched, one low pitched).
  • Horn blow switch (13A875) which grounds the horn relay, which energizes the horns .
