If the back seat folds down you can get in and take the cover off the boot lid and pull the levers to the lock and it will open. If the seats do not fold down you have to remove the back seats to get into the boot or just get a locksmith

It sounds like the engine "backfired" and blew the cover off. This and having the tach "jumping" means that the engine timing is erratic.
