By lever, I take it you are refering to the handle that opens the door.
If this is what you are talking about, remove the screw under the plastic cover. Slide the whole assembly to the front of the car and pull the assembly out; there are two clips holding the assembly to the door. You have to push hard to slide the assembly.

1. The wire you need are not going to be in the columm. They are going to be under the collumm, under the dashboard.
2. Also if you have a microchip in your key, the remote start will not work. Unless you take a spare key with a microchip in it, and tie it with a paperclip to amplify the chip, inside the steering columm or close to it. (because the microchip key doesn't necessarily need to be inside the ignition) so when you use the wireless starter, the computer will think the microchip key is being used.

you should have a pull strap in the boot area level with the cap out side, you may have to open a compartment to access it

If it's a lever beside the driver's seat it work's by a cable that run's all the way to the back where the door is.It has either came unhooked at either end or the cable broke.Pop the truck and look behind the carpet in the area of the gas access door ,sometimes there is a secondary cable or you might see the main cable/latch and might be able to open it from there.Hope this help's.

Even though the motor partially works, the other part of the circuit inside the motor may have failed. Try replacing the motor, unless you have the skill to trouble shoot the entire system first to verify the motor as the problem.
