I have a new remote a Hst-5225 it will not charge? I plug it in and doesn’t light up or anything. And is there an on/off switch for the remote start? Just bought a 2006 Trailblazer SS. Has astrostart installed but previous buyer just bought new remote and never programmed it or anything. What can I do or are there steps I need to do?

AND NO BATTERY LASTS FOR 13YEARS, AND MUST BE REPLACED
SO PULL IT OUT AND POST PART NUMBERS ON IT.

Hold the key and the question mark buttons and that should work to cancel the runtime, panic and alarm activated modes

Your truck should shut off automatically after 5-15 minutes without the key in and 'on' due to built in antitheft. If it won't shut the truck down on it's own without the key that unit is most likely faulty.
Disconnect the ignition coils and this will safely shut your truck off if need be until it can get replaced.

If you just want to turn it off, and the unit is ok, you have to manually cycle the key.

There is no way to know if it has remote start except to ask the dealer.

Hi Ron, You might want to take that to the dealer, GM has a recall on most of there newer vehicles for Ignition switch failure, RE: Ignition lock cylinder, key etc, And if your vehicle is an 08 Colorado I can almost bet it will be on either the Manufact. Recall list or NHTSA list. You can go to there site, and put your VIN number in and it will tell you all Recalls, TSB's and Investigations. GM also has a site for this as well. either the buttons r sticking or constantly being pressed as in ur pocket. It only powers on when activated.
If not return it.

run the fault codes to check cam/crank position sensor. Check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt /chain) check immobiliser operation

Leave the ignition key on for 10 minutes until the security light goes off. You may have to do this three times for a 30-minute total for a relearn procedure
