You will need to get the transmission rebuilt. With the info that you have provided the direct clutches are welded together. Becareful about getting it rebuilt, most shops see Dodge transmissions and they see dollar signs. You should be able to get it rebuilt for around $800.00 to $1000.00 depending on amount of damaged hard parts. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

If this is a new body style 2004 ( not a heritage or lightning ) did you check fuse #16 ? This is the fuse for the shift interlock switch on the brake pedal.
IF this fuse is good, check the shift interlock section of the brake pedal position ( BPP ) switch ( on the side of the brake pedal lever, usually has a yellow c-clip cover on it ).
The wires for the shift interlock circuit
Fuse #16 to Tan w/ REd stripe wire
Pink w/ light green stripe to the shift interlock solenoid.
If there is power on the Tan w/ REd stripe wire, press the brake pedal down, and check the pink w/ light greens stripe wire for power ( switch is closed when brake pedal is pressed.
If you do not have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new BPP switch.
If you have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new shift interlock solenoid.

Because of the computer set up - you will need to take it to the shop. If it is a rental or leased vehicle then the factory may have shut it down. Seen this happen.
Try this - take down the vin number and call the dealer - ask about recalls or any complications that concern the vin number you have.
This should get you pointed in the right direction.
